Good day,

I was wondering if anyone could provide me with the ORBAT for the XI Austrian Corps. I have read that it was a mix of Austrian and Brunswick troops but cannot find a detailed break down of the forces.

Thanks.

Just to clarify chaps – The top list is a full breakdown of forces engaged. The second list (reinforcements) is a list of reinforcements when available.

All information from J. Gill's fantastic trilogy (did I say that before?)

Have you read the book…….?

Taken from J. Gill's 1809 Thunder on the Danube Vol III Wagram & Znaim – get the book it is fantastic reading and I wasn't really aware of how the Walcheren Campaign tied in with the campaign on the Danube until I read Gill – fascinating stuff – buy it, go on you know you want to…

Gonsalvo09 Nov 2012 3:42 p.m. PST

Just a clarification to the above for those new to the era/campaign – the "Hessians" listed were, I think the Kur-Hessian Legion, drawn from the former lands of Hessen-Kasel, which were subsumed into Jerome's new Kingdom of Westphalia.

Hessen-Darmstadt, OTOH, was an ally of France and part of the Rhine Confederation. Hessian troops fought very well indeed as part of Massena's Corps, especially at Aspern-Essling and Wagram.

I heartily second Gills 1809 trilogy (and his With Eagles to Glory, about the "German" troops in French service in 1809). It is hard to imagine books better siuited to the wargamer!

Apologies I forgot to mention that, I had made a huge assumption of people's knowledge of the camapign and the countries involved, my mistake. Thank you Gonsalvo for bringing it up.

A latecomer here – any ideas of what the KurHessische Legion uniforms were?
