Interesting work from this french guy about the Pre-Columbian wars.

I hope the blog author isn't conflating statues of Toltec warriors (complete with ichcahuipilli and atl-atl) at Tula with ancient Maya gods. There is no correlation between them.

Later in the Post Classic period there was some blending of Mayan and "Mexicanized" elements in the art and architecture. This can be seen when contrasting the "old" and "new" versions of Chichen Itza.
