Nice Saxons Phil, the basing always enhances figures. Jolly fine. Only problem is what tune the horn men make. Is there any record at all of what signals and sounds the horn was used for? Apart from Kirk Douglas tune. Martin |

thanks for the kind comments everyone. I had had that old warship knocking around for quite a while and scratched my head a few times over the staging. But ship models do tick a lot of boxes when we take the effort with them I think. @ Martin
Your sculpting is tackling new levels of detail if you need to know the tunes that were being played :) It is a good question, though – if we knew what actions/ideas were communicated we could even make them audible options in a game. I will have to get back to you

The camp idea is very imaginative and well executed. |

Great work! I love that wood look you got on the galley. Brilliant stuff. |

That camp is phenomenal! It never ceases to amaze me, the diversity of camps that people come up with. |

Thanks again - @ Temporary like Achilles. The woodwork is 'sand', with a dip/magic wash finish of Ronseal stained varnish ('antique pine'). Although I use it (selectively, rather than as an all over dip) to enhance the detail on figures, it is, of course, designed to enhance the look of woodwork. Although the 'woodwork' is actually made of plastic, this is an almost unintended use of a DIY product for the job it was designed to do! re blacksoilbill's playful allusion, remember, however smart your Saxons appear, they still need to keep an eye out for foreign invaders!
