All,
Just finished up a pair of OG25's Longships. I bought the sets w/o the crew. I opted not to go for the colorful ships, but more of a rugged worn look:

I like the option of taking out the busy deck for any boat action.

The OG set came with oars and bunch of shields w/two dowels for the mast. I opted not to place shields on the boat as the small amount that came with kit wouldn't look right…you would need double the amount. I used the extra shields for game markers. I used one of the two dowels for the main mast and used a thinner one for the sail. I also made from Balsa the braces that hold up the mast & sail along with oars. I figured all the Dark Age games I've played are all on land, so it made sense not to have a full sail and shields on the boat.

For size sake I took a comparison shot of a Minifig 15mm Longship with the OG25's:

Nice work. I have a couple myself and went for the painted look with billowing sails. Come to think of it, I think I need to place another order for a couple more. Need a larger fleet to cary the troops.

Nice job on a couple very nice boats by Old Glory. I like what you have done. I recently bought two of the Old Glory longships also without crews. I haven't worked on mine yet but I doubt that I'll attach the shields. Really enjoyed your post. Richard

Very nice work and inspirational as I have one still in the box – years after I ordered one. Best, Dean
