In January 2008 I started a low key painting project. In the intervening fours years I have painted quite a bit of stuff for this project, including the elephants, but I have to admit to being sidetracked by other projects and life in general.

Anyway, having finished the elephants, mob and medium foot I've turned my attention to more heavy cavalry. What's put me off is the complex patterns on the horse armour. It was just far too slow and painful. However, I think I've cracked it as this work in progress shot shows:

The above photo is roughly twice life size. This photo gives you a better idea of life size:

Nice figure and a good result.

I gave up on black undercoat years ago. Brown and white for me.

Did the change in brushes really make a difference?

Yes. The Pro Arte has much shorter bristles.

Nice brush work Martin. I too have up on black undercoat many years ago. I'm an inker all the way now.

Nice Armenians by the way.

Martin, Thanks for the information. I could use a change of brush.

Cheers,

Very nice job! I really like Roundway's miniatures I've got quite a few of the Persians and other figures. I really wish Nav War and the US Distributors Noble Minis would put pictures up on the web, they would sell a lot more.

Nicely done, Armenians too! Good work on the banners.

Cheers, TC.
