I am a beginner in ww2 modelling and gaming. have some italian 47 mm anti tank guns. My question is how to paint them? which colours have i to use? thank for your help daniel |

I'm getting into the same field. When you get onto the AFVs you can get some useful tips and info at the flames of war website1, flamesofwar.com which has , somewhere in the download bit, a guide to painting italian tanks, even naming specific paints from different ranges |

Basically, Italian equipment was grey-green in Europe, turning sand in N. Africa. Of course, to make things complicated, as the war went on sand colored equipment would show up in the Balkans and Greece, while grey-green would end up in Africa. I have some 20mm 47mm ATGs that I have painted greenish so that I can cheat and use them for Romanian or Dutch as well as Italian. If they end up in the Desert I'll just say they were rushed from Italy with no time for a new paint job! |
