Went to hobby lobby today to pick up some brushes and very excited to find they are stocking vallejo paint. Since there is no gaming store to speak of in my area and have to order everything online it made my day.

recon3515 Oct 2012 2:44 p.m. PST

Very nice. I hope the one near me follows suit, since they almost always have a coupon online.

That's fantastic – let's hope they keep the stock full – the locals have been hit or miss and are often sold out of one color or another.

skinkmasterreturns15 Oct 2012 3:21 p.m. PST

I noticed the one I go to has it as well.I didnt buy any, cause I dont need any right now.

CPBelt15 Oct 2012 4:41 p.m. PST

Hmmm, I'll have to check the Orlando store or give them a call.

Bryan Stroup15 Oct 2012 4:59 p.m. PST

the Ocala store had some on Tuesday. We bought them out on Wednesday. They were fully restocked on Friday. Some others hit them hard over the weekend. I hope they like the numbers at the end of the month.

I'll have to check out my store.

JRacel15 Oct 2012 5:24 p.m. PST

Very interesting. I will have to check mine soon.

Rudysnelson15 Oct 2012 5:32 p.m. PST

Another reason not to stock that brand.

combatpainter Fezian15 Oct 2012 5:56 p.m. PST

Wonder if it is true in Texas as well.

combatpainter Fezian15 Oct 2012 5:57 p.m. PST

Here is your coupon! link

Paint is not on the online store.

How much were they charging for a pot? As Rudy says, that might be a reason to blow out my stock….

jay13815 Oct 2012 7:15 p.m. PST

I paid 3.29 a bottle in arkansas. Brushes were 50% off. Wish I had that 40% off coupon for the pin vise would have saved a few bucks. I'll have to remember to use it on that sweet viking long boat model I saw.

SECURITY MINISTER CRITTER15 Oct 2012 7:35 p.m. PST

I am so there tomorrow!

Austin Rob15 Oct 2012 7:52 p.m. PST

Well, that may explain why the distributors have not been able to stock it.

By the way, Hank, way to support your local game store, which has been selling Vallejo for years.

Why don't you go play your games at Hobby Lobby too, while you're at it?

Personal logo Extra Crispy Sponsoring Member of TMP15 Oct 2012 9:41 p.m. PST

Well if they sell at list I guess I can compete then…

CPBelt16 Oct 2012 2:45 a.m. PST

Ouch! Hank is in trouble now! The gauntlet has been thrown down. Our local stores suck, so I have no guilt buying elsewhere.

Bryan Stroup16 Oct 2012 4:34 a.m. PST

At least you have local stores…

corvettek22516 Oct 2012 5:47 a.m. PST

Sadly, my local store only carries FoW, Greed Workshop and some trading card based games. I game none of the above. When I talk historicals, all I get in return is a "why would you game that" sort of response. They do have Vallejo, but driving 1 hr and 20 minutes to get there on $4.00 USD/gal. gasoline. Hobby Lobby is a 15 minute drive. Which would you choose?!

I do order paints through online retailers, but only during a purchase of multiple other items such as flock or figures.

vojvoda16 Oct 2012 8:50 a.m. PST

Lets see 40% coupon at Hobby Lobby in Champaign, 30 minute drive from Danville, but I go every other weekend or so and can take the shuttle bus for free if I do not want to drive.
Time would be about two hours round trip and the hobby shop is just down the street. Sound like a plan for $2.40 USD a pot. Too bad they are not listed on the Hobby Lobby website.

Great Hall, you are assuming that we all have a FLGS available to make our purchases. Since that is most definitely NOT the case, we make our purchases where we can and play our games at home.

Austin Rob16 Oct 2012 10:09 a.m. PST

Rebmarine, I realize that others may not have shops near that offer gaming supplies and place to play. That is why I did not address anyone but Security Minister Critter (Hank), who plays at my store and uses my free internet. So now he is going to run off the Hobby Lobby to buy his paints. Well, he can just game there, too, as far as I am concerned.

Rudysnelson16 Oct 2012 10:29 a.m. PST

Well it is no reason to continue to carry them to conventions either.

Greed Workshop…funny and I had not heard that one before! LOL!

John Leahy Sponsoring Member of TMP16 Oct 2012 7:36 p.m. PST

I have no dog in this fight. In fact, maybe there is more going on behind the scenes since the passion in GHGames reply sounds sincere. I own 500+ jars of paint. I'm sort of a paint junkie. I own about 50 of Vallejo. My question is WHY would GHG toss Security Minister out of his store for 150-200 bucks if he has even purchased (30-50) that many bottles of Vallejo?

In my life I have been a very loyal supporter of my FLGS. Sadly, it has long passed away. However, even then I would still buy items elsewhere. Is the gent in question really that poor of a customer to toss him for this? The last was of course rhetorical as I expect no reply. Just seems a shame to see this happen.

YMMV.

Thanks,

John

I carry stock to conventions which the local players at that show cannot normally get at the local B&M or other source.

So to me it is just means that I will either stock another paint company or not stock any at all. It makes no sense carrying items at a 10% discount when they can get it cheaper or people like Great hall or mark are having to get rid of their stock at near our cost.

It is not a complaint against the customers speaking hear. I have long known that gamers buy what they can get the cheapest.

Austin Rob17 Oct 2012 6:57 a.m. PST

Reaper is planning on releasing a historical line of paints to complement their fantasy line.

I don't know that I will dump them immediately.

Rudysnelson17 Oct 2012 7:02 a.m. PST

That is good to know about Reaper. I can get them through my distributor.

Mirosav Supporting Member of TMP24 Oct 2012 12:03 p.m. PST

I would encourage dealers to continue to bring paints, including Vallejo, to conventions. We don't all have a Hobby Lobby nearby and some of us prefer to buy from a small business when possible.

Karl von Hessen25 Oct 2012 1:59 p.m. PST

Mirosav, see my posts on "Vendors at Fall In" I got nothing but grief suggesting vendors bring paint to conventions instead of sending us to box stores.
