Hi All,

I'm looking for something that would work as a 1/100 fighter craft, it doesn't have to be exact, but something close would be great.

I was looking at the gundam stuff, but anyone have any suggestions?

The Matchbox Sky Busters diecast Stealth Launch would be spot on:

Tamiya makes modern jet models in this scale, which you could use as is, or convert to a more Sci-Fi look.

Thanks guys… I appreciate the ideas!

I think they made a Viggen in 1/100th scale.

That'd get my vote for a futuristic looking fighter, even by today's standards.

Revell makes prepainted, snap-together 1/100th kits of the F-15, A-10, and others. I usually find them at Michaels art supply stores.

Here's a size comparison against a 1/100th scale Toynami Valkyrie.

Matchbox also have a Firefox look-a-like in their Skybusters range thats worth a look at.

Crimson Sky pre-paints (they can still be found here-and-there) would make good turboprop COIN craft--or low-tech opponents. Or they can be modified into jets.

The 1/100 Axis and Allies pre-paints could also be used as COIN or low-tech opponents--but they are mmore identifiable.

I have a fighter craft in production that is specifically 1/100 scale. Still waiting for the castings though.

I remember you mentioning that now… i'm sure it's pretty cool, since everything else you've been putting out is awesome!

Some of the Star Wars Action Fleet stuff would work, and is quite cheap on the secondary market. I found an A-Wing in my garage that looks nice with 15mm figures.

If you want to do a little converting, try to get your hands on some of the Titanium-series Battlestar Galactica Raptors. They look like a small one-man courier ship next to 15mm figures… mounting some spare weapons would give you a nice little fighter.

It's a bit pricey, but a 1/72 scale 'Ghost' from either Macross Plus or Macross Frontier makes an excellent small fighter. link

I bought the RVF-25 'Luca Custom' model from Macross Frontier, a fully-transformable Valkyrie, which has 3 Ghosts. auction is an example, though I'd try to order one from a local store or hlj before hitting fleabay.

I've got the Matchbox Stealth Launch. It's probably a bit on the small side for a dedicated fighter but the cockpit is large enough for a (15mm) human crewmemeber. I'm planning on using it as a stealth drop ship for 1 or 2 infiltrators.

Hasegawa have some 1/72 Macross fighters if you want something large & impressive. auction

There's also this light flier from Brigade Models

the flyers in this would suit

I forgot about the VF-29 from Macross Plus.
Good choice

earthad:

No, they would not, the 'Zod' range vehicle wise is unfit to portrait anything else than 1/160 scaled stuff, at most those flyers could be passed for remote drones in 15mm.

Or try to find one of these at a better price:

auction

I have two (bought when they were new so they were fairly cheap)and they scale out well with 15mm vehicles and troops.

JBR mentioned the Revell easy kits. They also do a set of Star Wars easy kits. The X wing is either at 1/105 or 106 (can't find packaging) It's a bit on the small size. It's getting a paint job over the cockpit and becoming an un(insert race name) drone.

The others in the series are at various scales (why is one of lifes myteries) But again it might be worthwhile investigating and painting over the cockpits.

About spot on, scale wise – or certainly close enough (I have one and have inspected the pilot behind the canopy)

Titanium BSG Viper Mk IIs are also good

Check out pound stores for "modern" fighter planes – they're almost invariably made up by some casting technician somewhere and are easily re-painted to sci-finess.
