i could really use some help with the 26e régiment d'infanterie légère, if possible ….

1. Did this regiment have a major en 2e? If so, who and from when?

2. Was the dépot of the régiment in 1812 and 1813 at Verdun, Metz or Sedan, or someplace else?

3. Could someone who has the following work take a quick look at it:

Souvenirs d'un sous-lieutenant d'infanterie légère (1805-1814) & François-René Cailloux dit Pouget : Souvenirs de guerre (1790-1831)
Florent Guibert (1783-1861) & baron François-Réne Cailloux (dit "Pouget") (1767-1851), ed. Thierry Rouillard
Tome Nº 7 de la séries "Du Directoire à l'Empire, mémoires et documents", 1 vol. (vi-248 p.) ; 22 cm
Paris: Édition La Vouivre, 1997

Can you tell me which pages correspond to the years 1812 and 1813 in the account of sous-lieutenant Guibert?

4. Unlike the memoirs of the baron Pouget, am I correct that the memoires of M. Guibert were not previously published?

Thank you, in advance!

according to Pouget 1809 – garrison in Metz

Guibert, in the published work you cite above, the pages 5 – 42 coresspond about 1812 unad 1813

Les Souvenirs de Florent Guibert étaient, jusqu'à ce jour, inédits et sonst conservés par ses descendants.

This in the préface of the above mentioned book.

Thank you so much, dear colleaue!
It appears I will now pay for my error in neglecting this work when one could pre-order him at a deep discount from LCV. It is an embarrassment, personally, to admit this omission – I was helping with translation for some of their authors in that time, as certainly knew of the new releases.

For the major en 2e ….
I have found chefs de bataillon:
- as of about 1 février 1812 : Preux, Duprat, Duplessis,
Treny
- as of about 1 juin 1812 (and the same about 1 octobre) : Genevois, Gimont, Barit/Barris, Faraquet/Faraguet
Assuming that these lists are correct (I have not checked them yet), perhaps I will find that one of the chefs de bataillon of the first group was promoted major en 2e.

Thank you again!

"Preux, Duprat, Duplessis, Treny"
Actually they were chefs de bataillon in the 25e légère, not the 26e.
Still looking ….

This one ….

So, now let's see who took over the 3e battaillon ….

this is from Big Al – also know as Voix

The following two officers were majors en 2e of the 26e leger in 1812:
Barrit, Roch:

and also known as Vitesse ?
I had seen Gimont's fatal wounding in Martinien, but the much-esteemed "Big Al" was ahread of me in posting.
My thanks to you both, dear colleagues!
