Hey does anyone know of a good source for good images to use as window dressing in 15mm?

I'm looking for images that could be used as command center displays, wall screens, even adverts and the like.

Thanks,

-Eli

Maybe a google image search for star trek consoles? If there are any other out there I too would be interested.

Google 'high res LCARS'. That should net you tons of good Star Trek console screens fron TNG forwards (and plenty o fan created stuff).

That's good information.

Any idea where to find stuff that isn't obviously Trek?

Eli,

Let me know the size and content and I'll put something together. Maybe we could do a few on a sheet and you could make them available as downloadable pdfs from LNG?

That'd work splendidly!

Look for an email Colin.

What I need is sizes. Obviously these will have to go onto miniature consoles or something – so if anybody has specific sizes they need, just post on this thread.

Exact sizes are always tough for me because I don't have any standard sizes I work with. I tend to make signs fit what I'm building or need.

No, but you can make your own in MS Word.

It's really not that difficult.

I recommend scaling the drawings to millimeters, for ease of use. That's an option when first starting out, but needs to be selected beforehand.

You could make fine lines (using 600dpi printing) on clear decal material, using white, red, light blue, etc. The modeller would paint the screen of the display black and then cut a piece of the display decal to fit. That would save ink and still produce a decent screen effect.

Or, print on paper, and then overlay a bit of clear transparency film, or clear plastic packaging over the top.

Or print on decent paper, glue in place and give a wash of PVA or satin varnish.

I have been playing with "Shrinky-Dinks" or Shrinking film from Grafix and have been having some interesting results. I have been hand drawing mine, but they produce a Ink-jet compatible product.

The film once shrunk responds well to Plasti-Weld and CYA glues.

It also comes a variety of colors, clear shrinks clear, the Matte shrinks to a translucent white, the other colors to their base colors.

Or gloss varnish, depending upon the effect desired.
