I found these going through my books as I started picking up stuff to play the new X-Wing game with and thought someone else would like to see them considering the discussions on other threads about scale. pg95 The Return of the Jedi Sketchbook 1983
pg39 The Best of the Lucasfilm Archives 1994
And who doesn't like a cute Princess Pinup
I would love to see any other Ship Scale Comparison Film Production Art from SW A New Hope, Empire Strikes Back or Return of the Jedi. Enjoy |

The scale of the star destroyer, blockade runner and falcon is very interesting. The blockade runner and star destroyer are well under sized for there offical sizes. I like them better smaller myself. |

All for the princess pin-up. Thanks. Oh, ya, the other stuff is interesting too. I hope that the follow up models for the new X-Wing game are done to scale. |

I looked at some of the old Micromachines minis, and it appears, based upon recent X-Wing releases, drawings, and models, that the Tie Fighters are only about 2/3rds of the size they should be (based upon the newer models' relative sizes, and the photo of the movie Tie compared in size to the X-Wings). Not sure how that relates to the "official" size figures, but I can now see why I was shocked at the large size of the Ties being produced for X-Wing. |

Hey Mako11 Micromachines toys? You surely can't be being serious when you use them as your leading reference. LOL Also. If you are talking about the production photo in the X-Wing rulebook that the Tie and X-wing models shown are the same scale as each other just because they are on the same table? Be careful mate, IMHO that's drawing a very long bow. Physical movie models were made in all different sizes, scales, levels of detail and proportions depending on how close the camera needed to be for the particular shot, where the model was positioned in the shot, foreground, background etc. Smaller scale models could be placed in the the background to make the shot look deeper, get what I mean. For all we know the models on that table could be all different scales or they might be the same, we don't know, there is no guarantee. The guy in the picture, might be the original model maker and he says they are? Or equally said he could be the pool cleaner, you just can't tell. |

Sorry, I have to retract my statement about scale and that photo. Apparentlly all the models in the original film were all the same scale due to all the models using casts of the same 1/24 scale Airfix Harrier pilot. I'll have another slice of that cold mouldy humble pie from the back of the fridge thanks. |
