Twenty three years ago I began JR Miniatures in my basement and since that time the company has expanded not only into a "real" company that operates in a commercial space but has also expanded beyond the borders of the U.S. My wife Nancy and I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know so many people in the gaming industry and creating products that have enhanced so many terrain layouts. After a brief illness last year, Nancy has been "gently" suggesting that maybe it is time for us to focus on family and to pursue new opportunities. After much thought and consideration we have decided to not renew our lease which expires October 31st. We realize that this will take many of you by surprise but we are ready for something new and Nancy is excited about pursuing opportunities that she has wanted to do for awhile and I am looking forward to doing contract design work. Sunday is the last day that retail orders via our web-site will be accepted and we are no longer accepting wholesale orders. We are talking with a few potential buyers and so JR Miniatures will most likely continue with a different owner. Anyone interested in purchasing the design rights (includes masters and tools) please contact me via my email at robert@jrminiatures.net Thank you so much for all of the support and friendship over the years and we have enjoyed working with so many of you. So rare does one, in this industry, get to choose to close. Your not forced and continuing on. And it looks like some of your hard work will continue with out you. Congrats! |

Good for you, especially if someone else picks up your lines. I have a table full of your 6mm ruined buildings, and it is a joy to game on. |
McWong73 | 03 Oct 2012 8:35 p.m. PST |
I will sorely miss you guys. I have a pile of your 15mm product, it forms the basis of my terrain collection, and have never once had a problem with your excellent ranges – especially the more recent WW2 lines. Very sad for me, but sounds like you're both taking the right steps. Will make a final look see on the site, with some sadness. |

Marc33594 | 04 Oct 2012 4:07 a.m. PST |
Shocking news indeed! Will be very much missed. You brought integrity to a business many times lacking in it. You always put your customers first. I have placed several orders directly with you and each time been very satisfied. The only time there was an issue, when one item out of many was missing from an order, you not only promptly sent the piece you also sent an extra piece as a way to say you were sorry AND a personal email with your apologies. We can only hope anyone purchasing your line will give it as much love and attention as you have. |

Thank you all for such kinds words. It is an exciting time for me as I am looking forward to a new endeavor but at the same time I have moments of sadness. JR has been such a part of our life and family – not easy to say good-bye! I know Robert is looking forward to doing design work for hopefully the new owner(s) as well as getting involved in the art community here in Loveland. We are not "spring chickens" and so it will be nice to do something that I can wear nice clothes to the office! Nancy |

Wow! Thanks to everyone for your kind words. JR Miniatures has been the passion of my business life and I have enjoyed the company and more importantly the people in this industry It has been my pleasure to design scale miniature buildings and terrain features for the gaming/hobby community! There's nothing like starting a new design project, doing the research and line art and finally putting knife to plastic or a sculpting tool to clay! One aspect of the design work I enjoyed the most was the research involved in creating a building or series of buildings associated with a new model release. While researching the history of a battle or war you discover the units that participated and names begin to appear in the story. The names were of real people, many of whom lost their lives. I felt an obligation to recreate in the most authentic way possible a small part of their experience in miniature and pay tribute to their service. Again, I appreciate the kind words, Nancy and I have truly enjoyed working with all of you and we'll see if we can't find a good home for JR Miniatures' product line so the gaming community can continue to buy the buildings and terrain models they require for their gaming hobby. Best wishes for everyone, Robert Rumfelt Owner of JR Miniatures |

Good luck to you both, sometimes being in this business is just about being stubborn even when you enjoy producing,it is a huge effort not always worth it,much like teaching
But under today´s severe crisis it's good to see things in perspective and take some well planned decisions. |
