Cool diorama, but I'm not sure that any japanese tanker had surrender like this.

That is a great diorama, but I don't think that is how it would go down. I see the guy with the BAR covering the other Marine pitching a grenade into the open hatch, white flag or not.

By Feb. '45 (Iwo was invaded in '45) the Marines were not in much of a "prisoner taking mood" as discribe by one veteran from the 1st Marine Division.

I know the 1st did not fight on Iwo, but it sums up the attitude of the Marines by that stage of the war. Now the Japanese called the tune in '42, so they had to dance to it in '45.
