I am looking for some near-future vehicles in 28mm for Ambush Alley's Tomorrow's War I need tanks, APCs, 'jeeps', trucks, etc
You name it, I need it. I know about Pig Iron already. I am staying away from GW stuff
Any other ideas? Thanks!

I got some plastic toys (combat force) that came with some green plastic army men. With a bit of paint and a bit of card/plasticard, and some chopping and changing they make nice APC/IFV. at about £4.00 GBP-00 a pop, you can chop and change quite a bit without feeling too bad about it. I am still looking for a tank to go with them, but have seen a tank for plastic army men at a shop at about £10.00 GBP-00, that if it goes on sale at a bit less (say £6.00 GBP or so) I might have to buy two or three. I am using a reconditioned (second hand charity shop) Action man/GI Joe (12 inch figure) tank as my ogre rip off. It will mean that the tank is pretty much the battlefield, with troops swarming over it to destroy it before it launches a nuke at the command post. might take it to a wargames show in the uk in a couple of years time. |

Find some diecast stuff, like VABs and such that are less knon to us US based folks but with a bit paint and maybe some minor add-ons (like sensor domes/dishes) would fit in. I've gotten stuff from: link Sometimes they have some useful stuff on sale.

Dollar General has a slightly futuristic M1 Abrams knock-off for 3 bucks right now. Look for "Lazer wheels" brand. Have you looked at Old Crow? Their stuff is really nice! |

I thought Old Crow was on hiatus
Antenociti's is really nice. I forgot about their vehicles.

Someone said that Khurasan Miniatures might be making some. BUT I cannot find any on the website. Any validity in that rumor?

You can still order from Old Crow via email. You have to know what you want and be prepared to wait a little longer due to Jez's extra curricular activities. There are some Kitech plastic kits of LAVs, BTRs and modern tanks in 1/48 on ebay. Easy to put together, at least the apcs are, I haven't got the tanks. auction |

Secret Weapon has a nice six-wheeled armored car. Scotia/Grendel has the ATAC, a six wheeled IFV. |

I mostly use Old Crow vehicles, with Antenociti's Zebu and Bear 4 wheelers thrown in. I'll get some Khurasan stuff when they come out, especially if they do the Siler. |

Khurasan Miniatures is going to do two in 28mm. An APC and a light utility vehicle. There is an entry on his blog, but that was before he noted real life was getting in the way of his miniatures biz. |

My gear is all Old Crow and Antenociti, plus a few old Void buggies. I use wheeled/ tracked gear for my very near future/lower tech force, and Antenociti grav tanks/Old Crow hover stuff fir more futuristic gear Old Crow looks are still taking orders but with a few weeks delivery time |

If OC still delivers then I recommend it as well. Antenociti's vehicles are no doubt very good -- technically that is, based on some resin terrain pieces I have from them -- but I don't have any yet. Some of the former GZG, current Daemonscape vehicles might fit the bill as well tho they probably require a bit more work than OC stuff (I've only seen the Phalanx IRL and as I recall, a pal had some trouble getting it presentable): link |

GR, they are still coming, it's just order packing that real life is (temporarily) effecting. About a week from now, the month-long fire drill will be over and I can catch up. I'm still packing, it's just slower. I got home at 10:30 last night, walked the dog, had dinner, packed 9 orders, and went to bed. The thing that is delaying the vehicles is the casting time. The mold maker had some trouble getting good castings because he said there's too much detail on the models! |
Lardie the Great | 03 Oct 2012 9:54 a.m. PST |
Khurasanminiatures I think I did suggest less detail on the Polecat
.. ;D
the Caiman looks to be spot on though, any ideas about the Siler? you did speculate about kickstarter and I really want that tank or several. I think the difference between the 2 scales/sizes is that the larger stuff is easier to customize, just my opinion, a completely contradictory opinion will be along shortly. |

For the 28mm Old Crow stuff in a near future mould, think about these as ideas/suggestions: Ask him if he's got this one in production (I think he has)
The tracked version with a turret looks like this (but with tracks, obviously):
I think these are brilliant (though a little dated looking for some) but then I like half tracks
Then there's these:
These:
And these:
And for 8 wheeled, these:
And these for 6 wheeled:
Trucks:
Jeep Types:
Hope that helps! John T PS – lots more pics here link |

One thing I'd like to see is a set of active defenses to add onto an existing vehicle. You know, the IR Jammers of the Shtora system, the radar antenna and 'bouncing betty' rack of the Arena, the launchers of Iron Dome and Quick Kill, and all the different IED jammer antennas. And maybe some of the remote weapons stations, while we're at it. Then you can 'borrow' whatever vehicle you want and instantly update it to a near-future configuration. |

JT the lancer/stug is in production got 2 and 1 is actually painted and is in my ambush alley games stikeforce submission Kampfgruppe Steiner, the articulated/modular vehicle is also available. |
