thumbs up on that. the lore is fairly well, written, and I like it :) the oggam are very cool, and very original, especailly in 15mm sci-fi
I mean, your making an alien race that actuelly has differant armies/faction within it. thats almost never done. I mean, sci-fi in general has a bad habit of going. here is the Examplerace, they all believe in the example religion, they all have the example culture, and they are all have the example set of advantages and shortcomings (for example the greedy-ass alien merchant race that is all about greed all the time and allways hire mercs) I cant wait till christmas now, haha. |

"You're making an alien race that actuelly has differant armies/faction within it. Thats almost never done" Well, the Quars have the royalist/crusader factions built into them, but I agree, they're also sort of another exception. Kyn Ell, you should use German StuG III "Saukopf" mantlets as gun mounts for your porcine warriors, they're kind of apt!

Thanks guys. I hadn't thought of them being unique in that way, the first thought when working on the fluff was I wanted them to be constantly fighting over resources as they over populate the planet. I did a bit of looking into wild pig behavior to see that they tend to quickly take an area and spread quickly to colonise the whole place, enough in some areas to be classed as a real problem (lets face it wild pigs are very dangerous anyway, but imagine loads of them as a pest problem, eating everything, attacking anything they see as a threat, and each other as space runs out etc
.) So with that in mind, with limited capability to get to anywhere off world (only as far as the moons, but even they are contantly warring too as they become more cramped in the settlements) they would always have a reason to fight each other. Your right when you say its easy to just create an alien race and then just say, they all like doing this, dress this way, all the same colour and so on. Thats Ok for some, but I like the idea of creating a whole reason for them being there, having the wars they have, all the cultural differences that make them fight, as well as different approaches to religion, history and phillosophy. I hadn't really put any thinking into making them as unique in the approach though, after all, It started with just a pig mutie with guns!! When I first saw the tank I thought, add some ears and a pig face with two big gun barrels sticking out! perfect "longsnouts" (Oggam tanks) I'll have a play with some designs like that, thanks for the idea!! |

The books pretty good, but religion would be an interesting thing to touch on. |

Yeah, I only really go into it a little but, you have a point! I originally was going to do a section on the main religions and lores of the factions, and I still will probably do that when I have spare time. The League of Anthracks fluff has a fair bit of religion in it thegrinningskull.wordpress.com/2012/10/05/oggam-factions-the-league-of-anthracks. The faction stuff is still needing to go in the book, but I'll get around to finishing all that off when I'm less busy! |
