Bill Nevin asked me to post some pictures of the completed greens that he commissioned to be Perry and Eureka compatible. These are the 71st Highlanders advancing and in firing line poses. Bill intends to add the command figures soon and plans to follow on with some other figures that will be unique to the Southern Theatre of the AWI. These are nice looking figures and Bill will be selling them to the public. Stay tuned to TMP for more information. Advancing:

The figures in F&D are truely excellent but IMHO these 71st figures are the best yet. Well done to all concerned. Can't wait to them them painted up. |

Indeed, the very talented Alan Marsh sculpted these for me. I wish to thank Jim publicly because without his guidance none of this would have been possible. I cannot say enough good things about Jim. He held my hand through the entire process and without his help none of these figures would have ever seen the light of day. Thank you again, Jim. One of the many gentlemen within this hobby. Anyway, the first run of figures should be done by the end of October. The master mold is made and I have to decide whether to make two production molds or one. In fact, I could use some help here. I can put all 16 figures into one production mold and go from there. Or, should I make an additional production mold of just the firing line figures? What do you think? These will be a limited run of around 500 figures. I'll be keeping 200 for myself and selling off the rest to try to pare down my initial investment. I expected to lose money on the deal and I paid for everything out of my own pocket. I would like to keep the price per figure down to about 2.25 to 2.50 depending on the cost of castings and shipping. I wish to sell off the extra figures, but I do not want to get involved in a full time business, like Fife and Drum. I did this for myself and fully understood the cost going into it.
I may wish to trade some figures for painting or help with computer stuff (pictures) as I am totally mystified by tech. I also plan to discount castings for active or retired service people. It's the least I can do. So, watch this space for details on how to order the figures. It will probably be the only place you'll see them for sale. If demand is great enough, then I may have to consider running an additional series. It all depends on demand.
Alan and I are in the early stages of discussion about a second line of AWI specialty figures to follow the Highlanders. I am very excited about my next project and hope to finalize the deal soon. Keep watching TMP for any announcements. |

These are fantastic – well done Mr Nevin. I'm certainly very interested in buying some/lots of the spare figures. Presumably there's no reason why they wouldn't work for the 74th Foot, the Argyll Highlanders? Also, I think I might have to do another unit of the 42nd as well, in overalls for Monmouth etc. Giles |

These figures look great. As for the production mold question, I imagine you will need to do two molds because you have command figures to come and that puts you over 16 figures. It might be tricky to balance the number of spins evenly over the two molds, ie: one being used lots and the other little. So my suggestion is to put the 10 firing line, 2 casualties and the 4(?) future command in one mold. That way one spin gives you a small 16 figure unit of cohesive figures. If you want a larger unit do another spin and use the 10 firing line figures for a unit of 24/26. The left over command/casualties from the second spin can be combined with advancing figures form the second mold. It may not save you money on mold costs but it might avoid some time wasting etc. Andrew |

These will be a limited run of around 500 figures. Hopefully you're prepared to revise that total upwards a bit. Given that you propose to keep 200 for yourself, that only leaves 300 figures for sale to others. The order I have in mind (based on what I've seen so far) would probably be somewhere in the region of 60 or 70 figures. Happy to stick down half the price of it via Paypal right now if it'll guarantee delivery. |

I was thinking about 40-50 figures. But I refuse to use Paypal. Eric |

The sample figures have been sent my way. I'll try to get pix of them up when they arrive. I may have to revise my initial order upwards. |

Like Mericanach, I'd be interested in about 60-70, I think. Giles |

Any chance of seeing a shot of the greens against, say, the Perry late war marching highlanders/command? |
| nevinsrip | 28 Sep 2012 2:53 p.m. PST |
Super Max I have plemty of Perries here, but I am not sure if I have the command figures. I can take a shot of the Highlander versus Perry, Foundry, Eureka, and OG for comparison purposes. I'll do that once I stain the figures. Keep in mind that the figures were sculpted by Alan Marsh with specific instructions to match the Perry figures in all areas. Alan sculpted the Eurekas ragged Continentals, so you can judge his work by them. |
| Supercilius Maximus | 29 Sep 2012 8:58 a.m. PST |
Thanks, Bill. I have the Eureka ragged C's – the muskets are noticeably longer and thinner, being more accurately scaled down – though slightly more fragile than the Perry ones because of that. |
| nevinsrip | 29 Sep 2012 10:03 a.m. PST |
I actualy had Alan thicken the muskets up a bit because of the problems I have had with the Eureka figures. Probably half of my Eureka's figures bayonets have broken off because of the thin joint. I did not want this to happen to the Highlanders, so I asked Alan to make the joint stronger. |

Bill; If you want to send me any unused Perrys, I'd be MORE than happy to take them off you hands. So I can then paint them up and compare them to your figures
