So if I want to fall through the inter-dimensional hole and try adding some steam punk to my Old West gaming do I turn to Malifaux or Deadlands? |

Why not both? Or are you looking for a system to play? |

Isn't Deadlands an RPG, while Malifaux is a skirmish wargame? Which kind of play are you looking for? |

The Great Rail War is the miniature game set in the Deadlands era. You can also use Savage World Showdown, their current miniature game. |

I think skirmish gaming with a bit of punk thrown in is what I want. Is that a mix of the two? |

I would say that you should find your favourite set of Wild West rules and then add in the steam punk stuff. |

Savage Worlds (Deadlands)is a miniature based RPG, all the mechanics use minitures and it runs like a wargame. |

I've not played The Great Rail Wars, but I've got the rules and they sound like a lot of fun. Based on its solid reputation, I would add my endorsement for trying that to bring some Steampunk fun into your game night. |

Spartan Games just released its Dystopian Legions game. It has a steampunk cowboy faction, along with British, German, and Japanese. -Solo Sam Cowboyminiatures.blogspot.com |

Rail Wars is a blast. The figures are still available. I know someone picked them up. You can also supplement the figures with all kinds of repainted D&D minis. Here in an image from Wargames Workbench
