I've designed a hand full of 28mm "scaled" sci-fi civilian vehicles to populate the typically desolate streets of the future cities (wargames , skirmish games, apocalyptic, etc). Ive prototyped over half of them and painted them but think its time to push this into the next phase. At this stage I would like to asses relative popularity/preference of the particular models. For scale the smallest model is just under 20 mm tall, the train is about 10" long All models are very close to scale to eachother (as their models are rendered in the same file for this image except 6). Im hoping this will help me prioritize production, assuming there is enough of a response to warrant moving forward. Please Vote for models you would be most interested in
Up to 2 of the numbered models and/or Up to 3 of the lettered models and/or Not interested unless they come armed or Not interested, civilians and paramilitary have no place in my games. F/0 can be voted in either category as I view it as a threshold on size and volume for production.
You can vote for more than above but please put a priority of preference. "I like all of them" is flattering but not helpful. **right click-view image to see larger**

I like 2 and 4. 3 is interesting too, but I would prefer it without the claw projections in the front. |

4, 5 b and d nice vehicle in 28 mm |

I like 2 & 4 and b, d & f But what I really want are something like delivery trucks or vans. |
| jpattern2 | 20 Sep 2012 8:26 a.m. PST |
1 & 2, and B, D, & F. I would definitely buy mjultiples of 1 and 2. |

4, 5, and F look most useful to me. A "bus" style vehicle would be a good addition to the list. |

2 and 4 as well, I like 4 the best. B and E are the one I like from that group. |

B, 2, and 4 in that order. |

5 would be really useful (I'd buy two of them), and #6 is probably worth another purchase. A, D, and E. But where are the commercial vehicles? I need catering trucks, UPS vans, etc. |

4&5 B, D, F 7 seems to be a bus but is difficult to recognise as such

For the numbered models, #5 & #6, with #3 as the first to not make the cut of top two. Number #7 seems nice enough as well but I expect it would be prohibitively expensive IRL. For the lettered ones, #D, #E & #F. |

4 C looks like the vehicle that Mr Garrison, of South Park Colorado, invented |
| Atropos907 | 21 Sep 2012 6:52 a.m. PST |
7 is a train, the rails are adjustable to be a monorail (when mounted under as in the picture) or to be more of a large hover armored transport (when mounted on the side making the train a bit shorter in height. C is a monowheel. It is nothing new from southpark (having never seen southpark) Do a simple search on google and you will find hundreds of images and designs. Its apparently a fun hobby for many to make these. Mine is designed to be as compact to a person as I thought reasonable, but still have a "wide screen" for the stupid people of the future that must stare at a screen everywhere they go. Or for paramilitary its a situational awareness screen displaying area tactical information and weapon target information. I must say the results of the polls are very different from what I expected. Keep it coming, this is very educational! |

Here is another vehicle, the street sweeper. an industrial truck that can be a trash truck, local cargo transport, or other utility vehicle. Possibly an armored van. Call the street sweeper #8
|
| Lion in the Stars | 26 Sep 2012 12:51 a.m. PST |
Make #8 in a wheeled version, I'm in for two of them. My preferred setting doesn't have civvie grav vehicles. |
| tnjrp | 26 Sep 2012 1:04 a.m. PST |
Not fair adding to the options after the voting's started! Anyway, the #8 looks nice but maybe not quite nice enough replace #3 as my "best one not quite making it to the top 2". Am rather on the fence about that but it's a hover vehicle, which I'm not very fond of as a whole, and #3 I assume is not. If however #3 is a hover then #8 is a better choice but still not quite top 2 material. |
| Atropos907 | 26 Sep 2012 7:05 a.m. PST |
Hover vehicles are 1, 2, 4, 7, 8, B, F 8 has the option to be a monorail or a hover. you could claim F runs on tinny ball wheels underneath or its easily modified with halves of wheels in the hover wells. 8 on the other hand has wheel wells but I have not designed the hover pads to double as wheels. However I could design 8 to have "adaptive wheels" similar to 3. THese are quasi short tracks that are non-circular adapting to contours to get better grip on any surface doubling as shock absorbers. |

Adaptive wheels sound like a nice scifistic idea.

Im a bit naive regarding 15mm games (possibly equally so for 28mm though I play those) What games at 15mm would be interested/appropriate in these? Actually, other than infinity, shadowrun or home rule games would be intersted in 28mm? My main interest is painting them, but ive had enough people in person saying they want some

backdrop cg by andree wallin andreewallin.com, base and everything else by me. These models are not quite to scale with eachother. These were my early prototypes that I used to assess "castability" and scale. Most of them were then upscaled 10-20% If I do 15mm it will likely be after a 28mm kickstarter is done. |
| tnjrp | 27 Sep 2012 9:49 p.m. PST |
A KickStarter eh? I so didn't see that coming
As for who will want them, well, possibly not quite as many as you may be lead to believe by asking opinions on a forum, seeing as they are civilian stuff. But I could be wrong. And anyway KickStarter is good enough a way to asses their popularity before committing to a production run. As for the aesthetic, they fit with Infinity of course but there are some other "futuristic scifi" miniature lines that would work (not as many as I'd like), such as Antenociti's Governance of Technology, McVey's Sedition Wars and even Mongoose's Judge Dredd to name some of the most obvious. As for rules, I don't think there are that many "name" miniature games that cater for such vehicles as these out of the box (Infinity doesn't for one). In most generic games, you can probably make stats for them of course. |

#8 and #5. B and F/0 More likely in 15mm than 28mm. They do look sharp. |
| Atropos907 | 30 Sep 2012 6:30 a.m. PST |
ok for those who dont like hover vehicles. This one is now wheeled.

Nice. Unfortunately, the days when I could've pledged for Cargo Crab or U-Vehicle are gone and now I'm hard pressed to justify even a Stroller. Am not keen on paying 30%+ extra on top of the vehicle + p&p at the Customs Office. But that's how we protect EU intermarket biz these days. |

I have updated the video to show the concept renders in response to people wanting to see the vehicle without paint. I painted nearly all of the copies I had for one of my games.. Im looking into seeing if I have a mold for all of the missing unpainted models to update the main KS page. I've been there Tnjrp for well over a year once
good luck in turning things around for yourself. |
