I'm thinking of trying to model Marmont's naval artillerymen-turned-infantrymen of 1813. The plan is to buy a Victrix French infantry box and a box of either the Old Guard grenadiers or chasseurs. If you own a grenadier or chasseur box, how easily do you think I can scrape off the epaulettes? Not every man in these battalions had the epaulettes, so they definitely need to come off. I'd consider myself reasonably skilled with a knife and file. |

Not too difficult. Start with the clippers, then a bit of carving with the knife and then finish off with a fine file. I have not found it to be a problem. However, If you can afford it I would do the same with metals using the Perry 1815 French line grenadiers in greatcoats as the start point. At least that way you do not end up with a lot of spare bodies/heads. |

I´m interested in old guard chasseurs heads and have some heads from the Victrix line infantry. If interested contact me with a PM. Cheers Claus |

If you hang on a few weeks we will have the Middle Imperial Guard set out. This has covered shakos in the set which would work very well for your purposes. Cutting off the Epaaulettes is very easy to do.Just slice off with a knife, a fine file or very fine sandpaper and I would recomend using the plastic cement you get in a bottle with brush applicator and cover the areas in this as it is very liquid. Somthing like Ambroid Pro Weld or equivelent. It is great for softening out filed areas on plastics Steve. |

Hi Claus, Yes it is an extension of our Old Guard sets. So they are in Greatcoats but with the covered shako head variants. We are due to get test shots next week so will post some shots on the Victrix homepage once we have them. We actually did the covered shakos with thistle shaped shako plumes (The Middle Guard wore pom pom on campaign from around 1813) This was so the set can be used as line Grenadiers, Voltigeurs and Legere in great coat. All you have to do is cut the top of the plume off to make the pom pom for the Middle guard. We we felt this made it a really useful and versatile set for Gamers. Steve. |

I'll happily wait on the Middle Guard box, and I am grateful for the heads up. I'll still be purchasing a chasseur box for which I'll have no use for the heads, so I'll drop you a line, Nohrmann, as soon as I have it. Mid-October, most likely. |
