Greetings folks,
I've recently sculpted a set of 11 greens for a dark ages Welsh Warband. I was going to release them through my own small company but have decided not to do this. Hence: they are for sale.

The price for the set is $1,000.00 AUD. At this stage I am not willing to split the set. If I do the cost per green will be $120.00 AUD each.

As there is very little historical information regarding the folk who would become Welsh at this time I've taken liberties to try and give them a unique look for the Saga Era. I did find information from a couple of centuries later and decided to use this as a basis whilst incorporating some of their "lost" Romano-Celtic past. This is most evident in the Warlord who wears a toga-like robe over his armour. The warrior types are dressed in kilts, shirt and shawl. So dress-wise they have bit in common with their Northern/Scott's relations. The hearthguard types are dressed similar to the warriors but have sheilds and the odd piece of armour here and there.

The knife or sword located at the small of the back comes from the 12theC sources as does the bare footed aspect – even for the lord (Prince) – which also is taken from the available information. The predominant use of the spear also gives them a different look to the other Saga warbands and is more in keeping with their Celtic origins – as does the droopy mustache.

Here are some pics (I'm not the best photographer but I can supply more if required).

That is some really nice work there. I am assuming they are 28mm?

Ah yes… I should have mentioned that: 28mm

Thank you.

I hope someone makes you an offer, and puts them in production!

Nice figures! I particularly like the guy in the bottom group with the curly hair. No busy stuff like pouches, but as I understand it, the Welsh were poor and would have had nothing to put in the pouch, even if they could afford one.

Let's see, $1,000 USD AUD currently works out to $1,055 USD USD
But the wife just said "No." OK, that's not precisely the word she used, but Bill likes to keep this a family friendly forum.

Maybe if I stopped by the store and picked up a few lottery tickets . . .

They look great. And none of those short hobbit trousers! I would buy them.

I'm impressed not just by the anatomy and clean sculpting, but also by the accuracy of the clothing and weapons. These actually LOOK like Welsh warriors with the proper weapons, clothing and even hair. Finding accurate Welsh in 28mm is far more rare than a Blue Moon. I hope that someone picks these up and makes them available.

These are quite nice. I might well buy a group of them for saga army. Speaking of pouches though, I wonder where the slinger keeps his extra rocks or does he just pick them up off the ground as he goes along ?

Greetings all and thanks for the kind comments. I did put in an effort trying to make them look right AND unique. Quite luckily, as I began the sculpts a 6 part History of Wales was screened and gave some important information – Particularly on the barefoot aspect.

However, they have been picked up by Andy from Sergeant Major Miniatures.

Cheers

Looking great, just what I'm after for my Song of Arthur and Merlin games. Let us know when they're available….

I figure it will be arounf the FALL-IN time frame when these come out, so Late Octoberish. They are comign from the Australia to the US, then they need to go to the mold maker, then back to me for production. I will post a news article when they are available, and try to remmeber to update this post as well.

Thanks!
