Any ideas for this? I plan on using Hordes of the Things rules. In particular I'm looking for HAWKMEN, Robin Hoodish types to convert to ARBORIANS, and BATTLE ROBOTS for Ming's troops. (Inspiration is the Filmation Cartoons) Also, any Character types? |

Splintered Light do some Robin Hood miniatures Blue Moon have some miniatures that might pass for Ming troopers – not robotic though. Not sure about hawkmen, can't think of anything similar in 15mm |

Check out Splintered Light's "not Firefly" crew. They might work for you. Very nice figures. |

I did some valkyries a long time ago by getting an irregular armies 6mm scale winged demon/bat figure (CR11 in the 6mm range at: irregularminiatures.co.uk) and as it comes in 2 parts (it did then, I don't know if it still does, just mail them and ask) the wings are separate so you just glue the wings on to a suitable figure, I used amazons, but for hawkmen I would imagine you could use barbarians/other historical types and do a weapon swap. add a little bit of greenstuff/milliput to give em the hawkman hawk helmet like a beak, and if you want them flying, take the base off and put em on a flying base. Thats what I'd do anyway, I reckon they would look quite cool. I think the 6mm pegasus in the same range has more feathery wings and that might be two part (wings separate)but Im sure if you look, there is probably quite a few manufacturers doing some wings on another figure that would fit the bill somewhere |

HOTT list for Flash Gordon: link Some help there on figures but it's a bit outdated probably. I thought he may have some pictures somewhere but can't find them. They may be here but I can't access it at work: link |

But since you're asking about figures
My 15mm HOTT Flash Gordon army is as follows: Flash – A Peter Pig small humanoid Martian on a rocket sled mostly converted from bits of a GW plastic Chaos Cruiser Zarkov and Dale – More Peter Pig Martians, with a Milliput beard conversion for Zarkov. Hawkmen – Nine or ten of them, from MJ Figures. See above for possible availability now. Arboreans – You guessed it; Peter Pig Martians, with Milliput cloaks. Lion-Men – Chariot Nubians and similar figures, with fuse-wire and Milliput tails. Rocket Ship – A cereal packet free gift and some conversion. No idea what the particular promotion was. There's a company that makes Aura's shuttle from the 1980 film in resin, though. I have one, but haven't assembled/painted it yet. At a pinch you could use a smaller Battlefleet Gothic spaceship of some kind; they may not be retro, but they make great airboats for all kinds of armies. Hope this helps. |
