Are there any companies that make the well-known characters from science fiction, or models that could pass for them if painted properly?

Moqawama13 Sep 2012 12:17 p.m. PST

I would like to see a Snake Plissken in 15mm!!!!!

With eyepatch, boots, leather jacket and either revolvers or silenced/flash suppressed SMG…

For Indiana Jones, Khurasan has some 15mm pulp guys with a fig that may fit, as do Brigade. I think there may be an appropriate fig in the new Blue Moon releases too.

As for Ms Croft, Rebel have a few that may work with the right paint job. I think this one with a white/silver suit could work:

I don't know who those characters are the OP mentioned, but we have some 15mm character models. For instance we will have a 15mm Federal scientist who travels to Sepulveda to study the Sponk as well as to look for antiquities from vanished native civilisations ….

Mr. Khurasan is the king of the tease.

And we love every minute of it.

Sloppypainter13 Sep 2012 1:38 p.m. PST

Perhaps Mr. Khurasan will consider making a Snake Plis…er…bodyguard for the young Federal scientist lass? Not that she NEEDS a bodyguard, but someone has to carry the loot.

Bluemoon has some of them in their 18mm range. Look in Darkest Africa and or Horror. Rick and Indy along with Indy's buddies.

Lizard Zipskin? Or would that be a not-Visitor?

GZG have two packs of Free Trader crew figures, which may or may not bear a resemblance to the crew from Firefly/Serenity. They also have a pack which may or may not resemble characters from Stargate SG1.

The Scene has some special forces types which might put you in mind of Ahnolt and friends from Predator.

I've been trawling various ranges for minis which might represent characters from Doctor Who – incarnations of the Doctor, or companions. Khurasan and Rebel have some civilian types in various packs which might fit the bill; some of the Free Trader crew from GZG might also work, with the right paint job. Alas, although the Rebel and Khurasan miniatures mix reasonably well with each other, they look a bit skinny compared to the GZG ranges, which is a bit of a shame.

I've posted links to a pic of a Khurasan scientist painted up as the tenth Doctor here: TMP link

I think Khurasan needs to get that sculptor to do another archaeologist, with a penchant for leather jackets and fedoras. The person that did Cara Lroft there is very talented.

infojunky13 Sep 2012 4:17 p.m. PST

To be honest the character I would like to see are the Characters and NPCs from the Borderlands Video Game, as they tend to sit on the corners of SF, Steampunk and Post Apocalyptic. You know, lots of Googles and Handguns.

Farstar13 Sep 2012 4:26 p.m. PST

lots of Googles and Handguns.

Searching for things to shoot…

More Pulp and VSF, but Brigade Games does two packs of 15mm adventurers:

Wow, when I saw that sculpt I thought it was a 32mm one. Nice job Khurasan! thumbs up

Thanks,

John

The sculptor is the inimitable Tom Meier.

Best,

Well goggles also tend to help on find things to shoot as well.

They could be Google Goggles…..

Barks113 Sep 2012 11:52 p.m. PST

The Scene also do some agents reminiscent of the X files, and I like their robots.

The Department recall Blade Runner and I, Robot.

GZG has a number of friendly robots.

Highlander has some figures similar to Star Wars.

Noone's mentioned Khurasan's xenomorph and human friends.

QRF do a predator and aliens and colonists, but, well, they're not up to (say) the sculpt above.

I'd like to see Chuck Norris, John Mclain, Shaun (of the Dead), a few 007s, The Bride, Ghost in the Shell.

What can I say? I don't have much imagination…

daibaka14 Sep 2012 6:52 a.m. PST

What we really need is a highly Expendable bunch of mercs. If they happen to look like washed up 80's action stars, so much the better!

I'd like to see one in 15mm, too, now that I found a really good pic of the Air Force One filming miniature that was recently bought by a private collector in an online auction:

A few shattered pieces here and there with the bright orange escape pod sitting nearby, and the criminal "crazies" ready to pounce on our ol' buddy "Snake". Yeah, I can see that being gamed somewhere. grin

Mako1115 Sep 2012 12:25 p.m. PST

Love that Lara figure!

Now we need one in a body suit, for "special ops" work.

Dragon Gunner15 Sep 2012 8:06 p.m. PST

Excellent sculpt.

I would love to see a Snake Plisskan look alike from the first and second movie before he loses his equipment and weapons.
