I know that no M60 MBT's were ever deployed to Vietnam, but I believe M60 bridgelayers and engineer vehicles (M728) were sent in small numbers. Can anyone confirm my suspicion and if possible, in what year were these vehicles sent to Vietnam? Thanks guys!!

Here's an M728 in Vietnam:

I know for a fact that the bridgelayers were present during the Cambodian Incursion (my to-hand source is Kieth Nolan's excellent Into Cambodia); so earlier than 1970. If I recall correctly, the M728s were also mentioned by Ralph Zumbro in Tank Sergeant, circa 1968. Various on-line sources indicate the CEV was deployed in "limited numbers" after 1966.

M728 were used in Vietnam.
Not sure about AVLB's (Armored Vehicle Launched Bridge) "M60 bridgelayers".
The units that I served in that had M60A1 or M60A3 all had M-48 hull's for there AVLB's.

M728 and M60 bridgelayer were used in Vietnam according to Shelby Stanton's "Vietnam Order of Battle". He provides a picture of the bridge layer at Phu-Loi, 1968, belonging to the 1st Engeneer battalion.
