" I don't know what effect these men will have upon the enemy, but, by God, they frighten me." ~ Duke of Wellington Truth be told, I have gotten a bit tired of painting French style uniforms red and pretending they are "Brits". Sure they also make great Swiss, but I was missing my cool stovepipe shakos – so, I'm making them! Again, remember these are "Iconic" designs; the goal is to hit the right notes with the uniform and silhouette. With my Kickstarter going strong, I'm burning the midnight oil, AND coal, to keep up. Heres a peek at a few upcoming models!
Along with the British-style uniform comes the British-style cannon, with that cool single trail. This was a "two-fer" as it will be used for the Tesla cannon as well. Oh, and I can use it for ACW, too. Hmmm
And, straying a bit from Napoleonic time frames, here's a shot of the mount for Queen Victoria's Steel Dragoons. for more pics and talk about my mock ups here's a link! skullncrown.com Cheers |

May I suggest that your British infantryman has a stovepipe shako option in addition to the 1812 Belgic pattern? This will enable him to portray Peninsular War troops and Light Infantry Regiments, who continued to wear the stovepipe at Waterloo. The Grenadier/Light company shoulder wings would be best added separately onto a basic plain epaulette with a wool tuft for line companies. The Brown Bess should not have a barrel band; the barrel was pinned to the stock. Another very nice figure! |

Arthur1815- Thanks very much for your feedback. I am trying to portray a Flank company look with this fellow, figuring for center companies the shoulders will be just painted white on the ends. You know, I tried the stovepipe shako but it looked, well it did not read very well on a flat model as compared to the Belgic pattern. I do like the idea of options so may give it a second chance. Regarding the Brown Bess, if you look at the drawing you can see the barrel band was last minute; I found a reference with one so put it on. I've already taken it back off! In the long run, remember these fine lads may end up going up against robots, so historical is as historical does! Cheers and thanks again! Thomas |
