Is there someplace where the MechWarfare variant rules can be downloaded?

I would love to make that game …

ChrisBrantley10 Sep 2012 7:30 p.m. PST

Variant is being developed by the "Two Davids" Kuijt and Schlanger and this is a playtest for a game to also be presented at Fall In. I'm sure they would make them available at some point,…like their HotT Star Wars variant once they get them where they want want them.

So, do I conclude that the NICT in 2013 will be run using the 2.2+ variant?

El Jocko10 Sep 2012 8:02 p.m. PST

It's a little early to be talking about the 2013 NICT. I expect that discussions will start sometime in the Spring. A lot will depend on what happens between now and then. How widely does v2.2+ get adopted? Has DBA 3.0 actually been published? What's everybody playing?

It's way too early to have any kind of meaningful discussion.

Jack, it is not too early to talk about the NICT only because Chris mentioned it in his announcement.

Every game system (DBM, Warrior, etc) has it own NICT so there can be one for all DBA variations. If no one else will do it, I will run the 2.2 and the 3.0 options. If there are at least 8 qualifiers. Seems a reasonable number.
Bob

oops, assuming I can get a ride to Historicon. Otherwise might do it at ORIGINS.

El Jocko11 Sep 2012 11:50 a.m. PST

Hmm. I'd be happier working on the principle that all DBA events (whether 2.2, 2.2+, or 3.0) qualify players for the NICT. Just what form the NICT takes is something we can solve someplace down the road.

Personally, I'm not very invested in the NICT and would rather play in a nice themed event. But some folks seem to care. A lot. And I have no idea what's going to make sense in July of 2013. Heck, it's after the coming zombie apocalypse in December. We may not even be around in July.

Oh, I think we already know which way that toad will jump, don't wegrin

Bob,

It would be silly to run NICT events at ORIGINS where there is no DBA. This past year not a single DBA event was on the ORIGINS schedule.

We can figure out how to best handle the NICT at Historicon. I am happy to run NICT events for any version of the DBA rules.

I'll be at Historicon and running as many 3.0 events as possible esp in 25mm.

My son is already qualified for the NICT so I may not be the person to help with the 3.0 NICT but will be happy to do so!
