hi ,just recently picked up one of the 3 dungeons and dragons board games by WOTC. I love the concept.. all the minis you need , modular tiles, adventure guide, easy to manage combat.card system
.my only desire ids to have something like this for scince fiction
if there was a kickstarter for traveller products or gamma world stuff like this I would be all over it. does anyone know if any future stuff like this is in the works? maybe level 7? qualifies(although no miniatures) does zombiecide have minis? what I would love is a new version of azhanti high lightning with retooled rules and modular map tiles and minis

If you like Star Wars, check out the WOTC Star Wars miniatures game. Sounds like what you are looking for. You can still find TONS of the figures on eBay and online shops like "Cool Stuff INC" |

Sounds like Sedition Wars might have worked for what you are asking. The Kickstarter is now closed, but the game will be out later this year. You might want to look over the Kickstarter page to see what you think. They have expansions planned for next year as well with more factions. link Jeff |

You might want to have a punt around on Ebay for Space Crusade or Space Hulk from Games Workshop. Both are now OOP, but are worth a look. Space Crusade is the simpler of the two, but comes with bucket loads of figures. Also the new boardgame from Mantic Games, Project Pandora: Grim Cargo might be worth a look too. G. |

Beat me to it – Space Hulk and Grim Cargo both belong on that list, no doubt. Never got an opportunity to play Space Crusade, always been a grail game for me. You might also take a look at Earth Reborn from Z-Man Games. Post-apoc skirmish boardgame, minis included. |

Space-Hulk, Legions of Steel, Siege of the Citadel, Doom (with expansion)
oh, wait, these are sadly out of print
. You could pick up 'Blood Berets' from prince August, but the miniatures are pretty awful
Sedition Wars would be a good choice if you are into 'space zombies vs. commandoes'
so would 'Incursion' (more WWW2, however). Gears of War is pretty good
but it realllly plays like a video-game (even more so than 'Doom' IMHO). DO NOT waste your money on 'Project Pandora'. I was thinking it WOULD be nice if someone would jump on the kickstarter bandwagon and produce a 'spacehulk genre' game that WASN'T about zombies vs. scantily-clad commandoes, but this is probably a futile dream. |

i really think a well made revamped azhanti high lightning would be great but not much hope of that happening |

DO NOT waste your money on 'Project Pandora'. Okay, what's the isssue with it? I haven't played but I watched a demo game at the local store the other day and it looked okay. The earlier fantasy boardgames from Mantic were playable and even pretty clever, if a bit pricey. What's wrong with the scifi version? |

Hey there Chief Lackey Rich: Of course, some might feel that 'Project Pandora' is a decent game on whatever criteria. My personal beef with it is simply that for 50 USD I would expect slightly higher quality components. Here is my cynical breakdown: the miniatures are small and come without bases, also, I find them uninspired and unimpressive (IMHO). More importantly, I found the board sections very bright (colorful ) and thus difficult to play on (visual competition with miniatures). Also, there is no way to interlock the board sections
Next: the rulebook and dice seem to have been imported from Lilliput. A read of the rules and they look okay, if you are really into space-rats (this is a matter of opinion, of course). Any of these issues taken alone would be no major gripe, but all combined (sub-par miniatures, poor quality board pieces, tiny rulebook and dice) and tossed into a flimsy cardstock box for 50 USD and it spells 'disatisfaction' (I hope I spelled that right
) It strikes me as more of a 20 USD retail value item, but even at such a price I would not play with such poor quality components, especially the baord sections. Now, I could use different miniatures and custom created board tiles along with my own dice and an enlarged print of the rules
but at this point I may as well create my own game, or go pick up a copy of SpaceHulk, Doom, Blood Berets, etc
etc
Sorry about the rant, but you wanted to know (?) heh! Besides, you may love it
. just IMHO. |

Don't hold back, Bill, tell us how you really feel
I had heard the minis were small |
