In the collection of the Österreichische Nationalbibliothek is an engraving of a portrait of the French général de division comte Claude-Juste-Alexandre-Louis Legrand (1762 † 1815)

Here is their digital catalog entry, and a rather low-definition scan of the engraving link

The catalog entry is really sparse on detail. The engraving, or at least its style, seem quite familar to me, but I can't seem to find it.

The engraving in not the same as the portrait by Tardieu engraved by Normand for the portraits set in "Victoires, conquêtes, ….", nor is it a direct copy of the 1810 full length portrait painted in oils by the baron Gros.

Can any colleague here identify the source for the engraving, the artist, engraver or publication/printing information?
Thank you in advance for any help!

Looks like one of the engravings under direction of Ambroise Tardieu

Or maybe not! ;)

Dear Ed,

The Tardieu (the artist, actually) was earlier – note the dog's ears hairstyle and smaller set of decorations and ordrers, judging by which I would place it in ~1806.

It is more possible that the ÖNB engraving is after the Gros painting, but I think perhaps not. I could not tell for sure from the low-def scan, which was one of the reasons that I am asking here.

Oliver, as someone who also been, I think, unnecssarily banned from another forum, I thank you and my benefactor!

I "knew" I had seen this style before somewhere!

Thanks again!
