This is the beginning of a much larger army that is sitting on my work bench. To be added are three bikes, a mob of Burna Boys and Tank Bustas, more Gun trucks, some larger tanks, Big mech with Kustom force Field and another one with a shock attack gun and some other goodies.
I'm not thrilled with the way the decals on the hood of the smaller gun trucks turned out. The solvent didnt quite work. The decals are old old GW and maybe they were just too past their prime to be usable. Those will probably get removed and replaced with something else. Camo netting maybe.

Any and all comments welcome- even if you think the idea of Orks in TW is silly…lol

John Bear Ross31 Aug 2012 6:30 a.m. PST

AVAMANGO31 Aug 2012 6:58 a.m. PST

Great looking Orky tank conventions.

jimklein196631 Aug 2012 6:59 a.m. PST

Thanks! Im not a big GW fan either tho I admit I was along time ago. Thats a rant for another time..lol

The troops are GZG mercenaries.

The smaller tank is also a GZG item. The larger is a converted Matilda tank from Battlefront and the last two are pretty much stock vehicles from Battlefronts French line.

Wow… these are great looking! Amazing paintjobs and it really works well.

john lacour31 Aug 2012 7:23 a.m. PST

are the GZG mercenaries not orcs, or are they modified?

JRacel31 Aug 2012 7:27 a.m. PST

Outstanding work!!! Red goes faster!

jimklein196631 Aug 2012 7:33 a.m. PST

The GZG mercs are orks or at least the closest thing to it at this scale. The only modification on the troops is the Nob with the power claw. The model behind him with the yellow "power fist" is the original.

(Major Disaster)31 Aug 2012 7:46 a.m. PST

Guud werk! Redd wunz duz goez fasta'!!!

Moqawama31 Aug 2012 7:50 a.m. PST

Jimklein, what kind of vehicles are the two halftracks?

jimklein196631 Aug 2012 8:05 a.m. PST

they are Battlefront FR310 Panhard-Schneider P-16

boy wundyr x31 Aug 2012 10:27 a.m. PST

That is great, I have a few packs of those GZG mercenaries and I didn't even recognize them!

BlackWidowPilot Fezian31 Aug 2012 11:19 a.m. PST

I am loving your use of the P-16s! Orks are IMHO the ultimate asymmetric warfare op-for! evil grin

Gotta love the red. A couple more Trukks and you have yourself a Speed Freak army…Just like I had until GW fubared that. Never touch another GW model except to hack up now.
Great figures. I might have to revist my Speed Freaks in 15mm.

Little Big Wars31 Aug 2012 3:36 p.m. PST

They look a heck of a lot better than mine. Good work!

freecloud31 Aug 2012 4:02 p.m. PST

Dose boyz iz brilliant, but dey iz smaller dan grotz :)

infojunky31 Aug 2012 4:11 p.m. PST

I am going to quietly Hate You, over here next to my paint table for doing something so cool.

Your vehicles are…. Very good…..

Kudos man! it very nice work…. Keep it up and show us….

CorSecEng31 Aug 2012 4:21 p.m. PST

Playtesting that list is going to be interesting… I need to stock up on ATGMs and snipers.

Timothy V31 Aug 2012 11:33 p.m. PST

Your Army is really nice. Here they come Orks in 15mm let the rampage begin & the galaxy will trembles under the deafening echo of their mighty Waaagh!

AVAMANGO01 Sep 2012 1:29 a.m. PST

'Da boyz needza big metal mecha stompy fing' so how about a GW epic gargant, it would still be a good size model even in 15mm scale. auction

jimklein196601 Sep 2012 7:34 a.m. PST

Thanks everyone!!!
AVAMANGO- I have one of the old mega gargants. A rare find indeed now-a-days. I hope some avid Epic player grabs that up. I have thought of buying the GW stompa kit and used it as a mega gargant but its hard to justify the $80 USD-$100 price tag for something that might get used once or twice.

More pics to follow. Next up is a mob of burna boys and bikers

Moqawama01 Sep 2012 8:16 a.m. PST

Jimklein,

The Scene makes post apocalyptic half-tracked bikes.

picture

Probably you already knew that, but what the hell.

endrju9401 Sep 2012 10:18 a.m. PST

Great work, very inspiring!

jimklein196601 Sep 2012 10:50 a.m. PST

Moqawama- I bought my biker guys from them and then did head swaps with GZG mercenaries (orks). Pics soon! Thanks for the link though!

Lead Space01 Sep 2012 12:34 p.m. PST

Looooove your orks. I just finished painting 15mm ork hut (2nd ed. Style adobe ). Next in line are some troops and these give me tons of inspiration. Do you have a blog?

Lead Space02 Sep 2012 2:48 a.m. PST

I just wondered that would 1/72 vehicles fit better?

jimklein196602 Sep 2012 8:04 a.m. PST

I have a couple 1/72 scale vehicles Ive been toying with for larger tanks. Thats more of a future project tho. I want to get all the basic infantry stuff done before I start on more vehicles.
As for a blog- no I dont. A few folks in our group have been pushing me to set one up but I dont have a clue how to do it. Dont wanna lean either! lol. I figure that what great forums like this are for.

CorSecEng02 Sep 2012 8:31 a.m. PST

Forum is just as easy as a blog. give me a good name for it and I'll set it up for you.

infojunky02 Sep 2012 1:22 p.m. PST

1/72-76th scale M113 make great not-Rhinos in 15mm.

jimklein196606 Sep 2012 5:35 p.m. PST

UPDATED

The next units added are a mob of Burna boys, a war Buggy w looted machine gun and three War Bikers. The Burna boys will eventually be truck mounted but so far havnt decided what I want to use for a truck. The war Bikes are from 'The Scene' and were head swapped with three GZG mercenary (ork) figures. I had wanted a mob of six but after doing those head swaps I think three is just fine. A head swap in 15mm is nothing but a pain.

Next up will be two ork "speedstas", a mech w a force field
and the Tank Bustas.

Any and all comments welcome!

Lead Space09 Sep 2012 12:04 p.m. PST

Superb work again. You paint fast and the results are still awesome. How did you do that 'burna' ?

jimklein196609 Sep 2012 9:17 p.m. PST

Thanks! The burna is a converted regular 'boy' using the flame thrower bit from a rebel minis sprue. The backpack parts are from various vehicle accessory sprues- battlefront ithink.

jimklein196610 Sep 2012 6:16 p.m. PST

The army thus far.

i bought some desert colored felt that makes for better pictures so here are two repeat shots of the bikers and burna boys

Next up, Ork gun wagon. this one is still a WIP. The ram bar still needs spike or chains (haven't decided which) and the iconography needs some cleaning up.

Ork Gun Truck. Done except for the crew but those are on the back burner till the tank busta boys get done.

picture

Ork speedtas with Lifta Droppas (zapp guns)

Big Mech with Kustom Force Field and a Mad Doc with Cybork body.

another Big Mech with Shokk attack Gun and two mech boy helpers.

Next in production is the tank busta boys, a rokkit batery (will count as a light mortor) and another tank or two. Then I'll be done!

Wolfprophet10 Sep 2012 8:05 p.m. PST

That's all some pretty inspiring stuff. Thanks for sharing. I kinda have the urge to try to do something like that later now. too many projects for now!

Where are the Killa Kans from? Epic?

jimklein196610 Sep 2012 8:13 p.m. PST

Thanks! The kans are kitbashed from parts made by a company called Kromolok

John Bear Ross10 Sep 2012 10:29 p.m. PST

This is so filled-to-the-brim with awesome sauce. Great conversions. Can't wait to see more.

Best,
JBR

Lead Space11 Sep 2012 3:44 a.m. PST

Amazing but you know it! :)

jimklein196611 Sep 2012 5:05 a.m. PST

Kromlech- yup, butchered that name, thanks for the correction.

thanks everybody!

AnachronGames11 Sep 2012 10:28 a.m. PST

Great looking stuff, jim! A lot of really well done conversions in there.

AnachronGames11 Sep 2012 10:34 a.m. PST

Also I'm hesitant to even mention it, because I'm new here and I don't know the protocols, but I'm starting a Shapeways shop that has some very orky 15mm stuff on it that you might be interested in:

Dark Century by Anachron Games

Feel free to take a look, or direct me to the appropriate place to start posting it lol. I haven't opened the shop up to the public for long or advertised it much at all, so I'm a bit nervous about making a big grand opening type post somewhere.

jimklein196611 Sep 2012 12:10 p.m. PST

Ive seen your shapeways site and you're definitely on my shopping list. Fantastic looking stuff.
One thing I would love to see is gretchin in 15mm. Any chance of you adding those?

AnachronGames11 Sep 2012 6:50 p.m. PST

Thanks for that, always good to hear some positive feedback.

As for the gretchin, yes actually, I have a model almost ready. It came back with some misprints just last week (gretchin have very narrow ankles!) so they'll be up soon pending a few tweaks.

jimklein196611 Sep 2012 7:43 p.m. PST

Awesome. If you could post here or PM me when you have them ready to go i would appreciate it.

AnachronGames14 Sep 2012 10:26 a.m. PST

Jim, the "gobbos" should be up and ready to print now. I haven't had a chance to purchase a test run myself, but I think I took care of all the part thickness issues:

picture

Those are the basic cannon fodder. I plan on making a set lugging artillery shells and the like within a week or so. Also depending on how clean you want your detail, you may want to consider purchasing in White Detail or Frosted Detail. The rest of your models are painted so well, I don't want mine standing out in a bad way! (and for the record, I actually make the least money off the more expensive materials). Anyway, hope you enjoy!

jimklein196615 Sep 2012 10:55 a.m. PST

ohhh man those are awesome. great work!!!!
If its cheaper in shipping to order several things at once I may wait for the artillery grots. I have several guns in "the pipeline" and it would be great to have crews for them. Again fantastic stuff. cant wait for the gun gruntz!

jimklein196615 Sep 2012 11:09 a.m. PST

The Tank Bustas are finally done and they will wrap up the ork army for now until I get the stuff AnachronGames makes for shapeways.com.

This is the last Ork tank WIP. It wont be painted for awhile but thought I'd post it anyway. The vehicle is a converted British WWII AEC armored car made by Battlefront.

Any and all comments welcome!!!
