Just a heads up. I was at the local Hobby Lobby and found some excellent sailboats. To make them even better they were half off. I got two boats for $13. USD Unfortunatly they only had two. I would have bought a dozen. They only required a little bit of work to make them useable. Before:

I dont think I'll even repaint them. Chuck |

Those are pretty nice, and a good price for them too. I've seen them converted into pretty decent pirate sloops by moving the mast back a bit, adding a little rigging, cutting ports in the side for a few cannons, removing the overly large paddles, etc. |

Got a bunch of these on sale at Hobby Lobby a couple of years ago for five bucks each. The wood is hard to work with. Needed a dremel to cut it. but finally got one converted. You can see the conversion here: link |

I don't think I've ever seen more than two of them in a store at the same time. |

I've got a half dozen gaff-rigged and just picked up two of the lateen rigs as shown. I usually fit a thin wooden or corrugated deck with an aft companionway and a hatch forward. the guns fire over the gunwales. Arrrh, I've got a nice fleet mates! |

I'd love to but I can't even figure out how to post an original thread, much less do tech stuff. Sorry. I think there are some pictures of my boats in photos of Pirate games for the Millennium con and at the Austin-LSHM site. |
