Jon at Khurasan snuck in some really cool minis a few months ago. In this case it's his new Meso-Nai Salamander figures in Power armor. I already had the fantasy versions of these guys (need pictures of them), but I loved the concept of lizard (actually amphibian) troops in power armor. Unfortunately for these guys I am going through a period of playing with paint colors that are not found in my normal military palate and I decided that purple power armor was in order since I could not remember when I last used purple. I decided to push the theme with bright colors for the weapons as well with Heavy weapons being green and rifles being blue. The SAW is Blue with a green ammo box. The combination gives them a very cartoon or Anime like look that has grown on me. Some colors did not appear very well in the pictures, so hopefully I figure that out for the next round of shots. The minis are wonderful with a lot of character and personality. They are also rather large, very much in size with Khurasan's recent Federal Government forces I painted as Space Marines (Blue armor). I will get some pictures with terrain and with some other models up when I get a little more time. Hopefully you guys find these great models amusing and not too awfully flashy. Just added some of the Fantasy Guys in the pictures:

Forgot to mention I have 32 of these painted and will do some large pictures showing the force when time permits. I think most of you would be very happy with these guys when you see them in the flesh. Mine will likely see some time on the table as Tzeentch Chaos Marines since they are the right colors and last I checked, Chaos does not mind marines with tails. Jeff |

Those came out well – not too bright, you avoided garishness nicely. |

Nice work Jeff! I think the colours look great. As they are aquatics I see them as somewhat more subdued but I can also see them in these colours -- perfect to underline their alien nature. Their vehicles are coming soon too -- the Hellbender and Grampus, in grav and tracked versions. Dwartist is about to work his magic on them! A littler further down the line will be the Meso-Nai Descent Raft, which fits directly under the vehicles (even with their drives attached), permitting them to drop from orbit and attack immediately, an important element of Meso-Nai "defence" strategy. This optional piece will make the vehicles look bigger and more high tech. Stay tuned! |

A lot of amphibs' are brightly coloured, Mantellas and Dendrobates and a few toad species all spring to mind. Nothing to say they are poisonous themselves. Would fit in very well with Jons fluff. I'm happy to see bright coloured troops, I keep loosing the camo ones during games! And why camo themselves, not as if the enemy are real anyway. To them it's all just a mind trick. |

Looking forward to seeing yours SpaceJacker!!!! In regards to the color and Jon's fluff, I sort of felt that for a race that hates all other races and wants to kill them, why would they be sneaky and subtle. A bright and happy colored alien in power armor bent on Genocide seems rather scary to me. Sort of like hope people are scare of clowns and similar stuff. Jeff |

Nicely done, though IMO the sticky-candy 40k colour scheme doesn't really suit the models. |

I agree Porfirio, not normally my taste, but was nice to paint in a different style for fun. I may do some more later in a very dark grey color scheme, but not sure yet. Jeff |

It's all good until you start doing tye-dyed fatigues. |

It's all good until you start doing tye-dyed fatigues. Now that brings up an interesting concept of a peace loving group of hippy militiamen that feel so strongly in the concept of peace that they are willing to kill for it! Now, can I figure out how to do tye-dyed in 15mm . . . . . . . I have some Rebel Minis stuff that could use such a paint job . . . |
