Y'know, those individual 2"x2" bitz might slap together well into 15mm/28mm droid-built structures. |

Just played my first game . ( store owner had copies) Very simple ala wings of war with depth . I see good things in terms of this game . those tiles ate way cool |

Love the Death Star terrain, but imagine a 4' x 6', or larger playing surface will be cost prohibitive, at least for me. Looks really great though, Scotty! Perhaps you could make one nice one, give it a good gray wash, and take a nice, hi-res photo of it, and then sell pics, and/or posters of them, which we can use instead. I think a couple, or four x large, sealed, posters would make a great playing surface. |

By the way, what's the size of the square X-Wing flight bases for the game? |

Mako11 I think the poster idea is a fantastic one. Years ago I made up a simple Star Wars starfighter combat game using old Comet Miniature X wing and Tie white metal castings. I toyed with making the surface of the Deathstar similar to Combat Wombats. My masters were made using thin layers of card and paper so as to keep the details as low as possible to avoid the posibility of any "trip hazards". All went well until I started costing the silicon rubber and urethane resin to cover a 6' x 4' table including a 4" deep x 12" wide recessed trench along one table side. Back in mid 90's prices it was very prohibitive. From memory I think it was nearly a $500 USD Australian cost build. With a poster construction all you need do is make a single tile, say 12" x 12" to a very high quality, add an excellent paint job, take a high res digital snap, then cut and paste multiple mosaics to form a poster print. Probably retail the poster for $50 USD – $70 USD each. Now this method reeks of how a miniature modeller might go about it, whereas if a person was handy around a CAD program it could be all done digitally without the modelling step. Once you have a poster you could then sell the laser towers and turrets as seperate models to make it all a bit more 3D. I play lots of wings of war WW1 on two different maps. One is proper A0 photomap of an airfield and surrounds near where I live, the other is a file I downloaded from a forum which is a Google Earth A0 mozaic of English countryside. Both look and work well and both recieve plenty of positive comments. I can only imagine what interest a large A0 poster map of the Death Star would generate. |

I have been looking online for a way to print a 48"x48" poster and they are all over $60 USD a piece. Anyone know of a cheaper place? |

How about printing that type of design on a felt Hotz mat or similar? Posters are great but they never lay flat and tend to get wrinkled and messed up in storage. Cheers w. |

I like the idea of some sort of poster/mat (with a trench!) too, since I'd need hexes on mine for Silent Death. |

Staples runs sales periodically, that are pretty deeply discounted, e.g. like on the order of 50% off. I'd ask them when the next one is, and plan around that. Yea, either a photo, or better yet, some decent CAD work would be fine with me. The latter is probably even better, since you don't get the weird angular warpage away from the center of the photo, due to the lens angle in relation to the model. Definitely needs a trench down the middle, and would love to see separate, resin flak towers to put on top, for the 3-D effect. It wouldn't have to be a color print either, which should save money – just black, white, and gray. Obviously, mainly gray. |

That is very cool, but as said above, the cost for a 4 x 6 table would break the bank. |
BigNickR | 24 Aug 2012 7:53 a.m. PST |
make some molds and plaster cast the tiles to fill the table? |

These will be absolutely fabulous, dahlings, for everything from Star Wars dogfights to 6mm hardened (sunken) military strongpoints. Too cool, CW! Leland R. Erickson Metal Express metal-express.net

Looks good! You only need 864 of those for a 4' x 6' table! I guess we know what you'll be doing tomorrow. No cheating, by making 12" x 12" tiles. ;-) |
