Tango01 Looks like someone has tried to copy a scene from the film War and Peace to me! Nice though. |

The battle, as painted by Alexander Averyanov, looked as follows:

Greystreak I've not seen that one before. Nice one. There is also a really good double page colour image of the battle, possibly the better known image, in the new Berezina title from the Histoire & Collections series. Both images appear to suggest that the diorama might not be depicting the Battle of Maloyarolsavets but possibly some other 1812 action. |

Tango01 Did not think it represented Maloyaroslavets at first, especially looking at the various images and paintings depicting the battle, but after looking at my magazine article on the action, I have a feeling that it may well be depicting the battle after all. The building with the green roof might be meant to represent the monastery, although the photo I've seen and used in the article, shows the various modern roof sections as brown or blue-grey. I think we could have done with more images of the diorama to get a better idea. But a great pic anyway. |

I think about that battle because of the monastery and the river. Glad you had enjoy the diorama boys!. Amicalement Armand |
