My son, James and I fought a Hordes of the Things battle yesterday. It was much fun. I commanded the victorious undead while James played his unpainted barbarians. I told him he would lose playing with an unpainted army. However, it was close game. I played with 5 horde elements, 1 Hero (Gn), 1 Behemoth, 2 Knights, 1 Lurker and 3 shooters. James had 6 warband (Gn), 2 Blades, 1 Hero and 1 Mage.

I like the undead banners.

Out of curiosity, who makes your undead? They look pretty heavily armored, which is rather nice.

Edit: Nevermind, I'm guessing they're all Blood Dawn.

Correct, although these I believe were actually from the old Shadowcorps line by Reaper.

Same thing. Reaper sold the line off.

I LOVE those SC/BD undead (and most of the line, actually), but they are hell to try and cram onto DBx-standard bases.

Thanks for the BR!

What scale are you using? We are playing HOTT, but found the base size way-too small to accommodate 25/28mm figures. We solved this by going to an 88mm wide base, which works very well. Also, we went with individual figs and magnet basing, so swapping out figures and setting up forces is easy. I just made up a ton of bases and a lot of my various figures are already set up for magnets bases. Ancient Greeks, Romans, Dark Age, Medieval all fit nicely into HoTT armies along side fantasy figs.

Playing with 15mm.
