Who makes the coolest Exo-suits in 28mm? The GW Terminators and Space Marines are nice models, but they look disproportionate to me with the huge shins / feet, to me the exo-suit should mimic the features of people.

The Tau Crisis Suits are a lot better, IMHO.

Who else makes cool heavy battle suits for humans? I'd like them to look like they can fly and carry a variety of weapon setups, with choices in how to arm them when you make the model.

Thanks in advance for suggestions.

Mongoose SST Grizzly and Cougars look pretty good to me, of course they are almost impossible to get now.

If you want Grizzlies and Cougars, there are always the Mongoose Holocaust Judges from the Judge Dredd game:

UAMC hardsuits from Defiance Games, to be released in September.

AT43 and DUST TACTICS ones are great. Defiance Games ones are very promising…

Here's the blurb on the Defiance hardsuits:

"Next up are the impressive power armor suits of the United Americas Marine Corps. Hardsuits are organized into 4-Marine squads and carry a variety of heavy firepower – HMGs, missile launchers, hardbeam cannons, and flamethrowers for those nasty Bug hives and hard-to-crack German bunkers.

There will be 2 full squads per box – 8 multi-part hardsuits – bases – and a specialty figure that's an "extra" for you."

So, that's 8 hardsuits plus lots of stuff for thirty of those American dollar thingies.

I'm writing the rules for them.

Grandviewroad14 Aug 2012 2:35 p.m. PST

Oh, hey Mexican Jack, thanks for the disclosure. I like the suits except for the smooth front.

And hey, I'll be hornswaggled…Now we know what Mongoose did with the Grizzly sculpts!

jfleisher: Nice pic and paint job! Is that your grizzly?

jfleisher14 Aug 2012 4:09 p.m. PST

Not mine, I swiped it from someone's TMP Post actually. Mine are still unpainted, maybe someday.

Micropanzer14 Aug 2012 6:47 p.m. PST

I am reworking these to have better joints and getting rid of weapon arms and going with hand held weapons

I am also increasing size by 20% so I can beef up the 15mm versions.

SF3D 1/35 scale suits.

Barks114 Aug 2012 11:31 p.m. PST

I liked the Mongoose Grizzly as well.

tnjrp15 Aug 2012 1:46 a.m. PST

Odd that there is no love yet for the Infinity TAGs. Especially given the OP asks for "coolest" exosuits specifically.

Insomniac15 Aug 2012 4:17 a.m. PST

Shh… the Grizzly was painted by me ;)… don't tell anyone ;)

ordinarybass15 Aug 2012 6:34 a.m. PST

Lots of great suits here. I'm really looking forward to the Definace suits. I'm really hoping they can pull them off crisply.

Apparently I was wrong about the Defiance sets having eight figures per box for thirty bucks.

It's nine, two squads of four and a specialist.

hmmm, the manga doesn't do it for me – but I can see why it appeals to a lot of people. Just taste I guess.

I have 12 MGP/SST Cougars. I'd like to balance them with Grizzlies, and the new released Judge Dredd ones seem like the best direction. It'll probably drop the bottom out of the eBay market for Grizzlies, but the prices on them was getting ridiculous. The JD ones I can probably get for about $10 USD apiece shipped from my friendly on-line retailer…

In plastic, the Defiance ones look best. I dislike the egg look, prefer seeing a head in armor.

@ Insomniac…is that just a straight dry-brush over black prime? I love the way the model has a painted metal look to it!

Lysander19 Aug 2012 9:34 p.m. PST

I saw the actual "Scarface and Cordelia" minis at Gencon this week – beautiful figs.

Creds to Corvus Belli for coming to the states for Gencon.

Insomniac20 Aug 2012 8:11 a.m. PST

The Gun-metal ones were undercoated, painted in Boltgun Metal and washed with Devlan Mud. Really simple and dirty :) Grey panels were then painted on.

The good thing about the Holocaust Judges is the fact they don't have as many blocks stuck over them as the Grizzlies… easier to paint :)

Grandviewroad21 Aug 2012 7:43 p.m. PST

what about the red one up above? Or do you have a link to your pics?

Grandviewroad21 Aug 2012 7:49 p.m. PST

Jason Moore – what are those? And are they your sculpts or something? Thanks.

tnjrp22 Aug 2012 9:55 p.m. PST

Since there's been at least one post about an upcoming product, why not another:

The Studio McVey Gnosis Armour from Sedition Wars: Battle for Alabaster are something to look forward to as well but then we already had the currently available SW suits on show (Insomniac 14 Aug 2012 12:27 p.m. PST).

Antenociti's workshop put up pictures of their NRF komodo suit on their FB page as well.

Which is just the second pic from the Alfold Arms post, cropped of course. But I do suppose some people don't like to cliky on teh linky.

chromedog24 Aug 2012 4:03 a.m. PST

I saw no linky.

My browser doesn't tag links or make them stand out.
OK – so I miss some things – but another picture of a cool battlesuit is never a bad thing.

Insomniac27 Aug 2012 6:04 a.m. PST

@Grandviewroad – The red Grizzly was base coated a dark red (scab red), washed with devlan mud and then repainted with scab red (leaving the recesses) followed by blood red (if I remember correctly).

ordinarybass27 Aug 2012 7:08 a.m. PST

Just checked this thread again. How could I have forgotten the BT Elemantal! I've got a point of the Ral Partha versions waiting for paint. I'm so fond of the design that I'm hesitant to start for fear of not doing justice too it.

Good news about the Defiance Suits being 9 to a box. That's just a ridiculous deal, and one that I'll be taking advantage of.
