15mm and 28mm Fanatik | 13 Aug 2012 10:11 p.m. PST |
with his spamming of TMP with his 15mm QRF 'reviews'? |
Baggy Sausage | 13 Aug 2012 10:13 p.m. PST |
I am sure he understands now and won't do it anymore. If not
BURN HIM! |
Mako11 | 13 Aug 2012 10:20 p.m. PST |
Actually, I really loved his postings, since I finally get to see what the vehicles look like, in detail, and from all angles. Personally, I'm very pleased to see them, and appreciate his work! |
combatpainter | 13 Aug 2012 10:30 p.m. PST |
I believe he didn't know how it works. |
Fatman | 13 Aug 2012 10:31 p.m. PST |
|
Cyclops | 13 Aug 2012 10:47 p.m. PST |
No he's not. Excellent photos of vehicles does not a spammer make. Don't see why he should stop posting reviews of modern products on the Modern Product Reviews board. If they were all puff pieces for his own models then I'd have a problem. |
Mako11 | 13 Aug 2012 10:56 p.m. PST |
Now, if we can just get him to post some pics of the QRF modern, and GZG Sci-Fi infantry, I will be a very happy camper! |
McWong73 | 13 Aug 2012 10:57 p.m. PST |
It was annoying, but it was done with an honest intent and helpful outcome in mind. Live and learn. |
El Nato | 13 Aug 2012 11:07 p.m. PST |
|
Vis Bellica | 13 Aug 2012 11:33 p.m. PST |
Nothing annoying about it: totally legitimate and useful postings. |
Angel Barracks | 13 Aug 2012 11:38 p.m. PST |
It is not spam. Spam is irrelevant and unsolicited. These are posts about wargaming miniatures, posted to a website called, wait for it
The Miniatures Page. There is also this on each page that has a post:
All members in good standing are free to post here. So not only are his messages relevant, he is free to post them according to TMP rules.
Also
. How is the OP a modern review? This should be on TMP Talk, at least Louie N has posted to the correct boards unlike the originator of this thread. All seems very glass houses.
|
Space Monkey | 14 Aug 2012 1:50 a.m. PST |
No, they were interesting posts with good photos of nice models. What's the bit issue with them? |
Yesthatphil | 14 Aug 2012 1:52 a.m. PST |
I have to say
with manufacturer's press releases, I prefer models assembled but unpainted
whereas, in general, I think reviewers should paint the models as part of the review. 'How it paints' and what the finished model looks like is an important customer reaction. So that would be my only criticism
given we had so many all at once. backing off long enough to get some of them finished would have been a good way of spreading them out -and would have made for better review content. But every TMP user is different. Most times, when I visit the page there is a long list of posts in which I have no interest. For a change, last night's message board was crammed full of posts I wanted to read
|
Doms Decals | 14 Aug 2012 1:58 a.m. PST |
Not at all – yes, that many all at once was a bit of a moment, but they look genuinely useful posts, and making them separate rather than one huge one means they'll be easy to find next time someone asks for an opinion on one of those models. Fair play old chap
. |
Chortle | 14 Aug 2012 2:14 a.m. PST |
I think it is OK because so much work went into each review. It represents work over quite a period of time. So he won't be spamming us like this very often. |
bruntonboy | 14 Aug 2012 2:24 a.m. PST |
I liked them, more please! |
20thmaine | 14 Aug 2012 2:31 a.m. PST |
The only issue really was that they were one after the other – had they been spaced by 30 minutes I doubt anyone would have noticed against the regular traffic. And they aren't spam – he's put the vehicles together and shown from several angles and that's a pretty useful thing to do. If anything it's a shame they'll disappear down the lists so soon – seems like just the kind of thing a blog is made for. |
kreoseus2 | 14 Aug 2012 2:36 a.m. PST |
As I have been told many times on a similar manner, if you dont like it , dont read it. |
6sided | 14 Aug 2012 3:32 a.m. PST |
I'm more wondering how the post title here bypassed the naughty word filters?! I'm sure Geoff (?) from QRF will be along to answer the OP's accusation of the "reviews"

Doms Decals | 14 Aug 2012 3:47 a.m. PST |
The naughty word filter doesn't do subject headings, only the actual message contents. Many have discovered that the hard way
. ;-) |
GeoffQRF | 14 Aug 2012 4:06 a.m. PST |
Huh? It's nothing to do with me. Louis did this entirely off his own back. It did seem a little shocking/excessive/stalker-ish at first to see a list like that
but they were rather nice photos. I may need to contact Louis to borrow them :-) Can I just point it it wasn't only QRF. There were a couple of IrishSerb and Peter Pig items in there too. |
AGamer | 14 Aug 2012 4:17 a.m. PST |
Well taken photos and review of miniatures, different views of each item and all of them posted on TMP, in the proper categories
. Why would we complain? |
GeoffQRF | 14 Aug 2012 4:37 a.m. PST |
Because you are wargamers? :-D |

Only Warlock | 14 Aug 2012 5:05 a.m. PST |
I like the posts! The problem is by posting 20 of them in sequence he pushes a lot of interesting stuff off the front page. |
20thmaine | 14 Aug 2012 5:06 a.m. PST |
Because you are wargamers? :-D
Group Attack Group Attack Group Attack ! We have feelings you know |

Correction
because we are wargamers

Prince Alberts Revenge | 14 Aug 2012 5:21 a.m. PST |
No, I find them to be quite informative posts and believe the format in which he posted to be acceptable. Additionally, I believe their value will increase as time goes on, it will be much easier to search for a specific vehicle/model type and find the review. There are quite a few people who seem like posting silly, non-wargaming topics
not sure how Louis N can recieve any criticism at all. |
elsyrsyn | 14 Aug 2012 5:24 a.m. PST |
Nope. And weren't a few other brands? Doug |
jtipp68 | 14 Aug 2012 5:42 a.m. PST |
I bet if you could reset the message boards by authors, you'd be amazed at how similar it would look to yesterday's heinous offense. |
Redroom | 14 Aug 2012 6:28 a.m. PST |
No; it looks like he really did not intend to "Spam" as once others gave him some kind suggestions he made the combined post. His posts had good pics, valid descriptions and were totally relevant to this forum. Nothing I read looked like a sock puppet or political, so no problem here. |
M C MonkeyDew | 14 Aug 2012 6:58 a.m. PST |
I do not see a problem. Relevant posts with photos. What's not to like? |
combatpainter | 14 Aug 2012 6:59 a.m. PST |
A BIG HUGE YES! I will try the same thing later and see how you like it. I am sure he is a great guy. They were fine photos and informative posts that monopolized TMP for the day and that was the problem. It gave me no alternative stories but rather only his which is not cool. Why guys think that is OK is beyond me? It should have been one post with all his pictures not thirty different posts. Why shuld guys be subjected to reviews thay don't care about? He should have also realized that he would take up the whole front page and push everyone out. It is common sense. |
GeoffQRF | 14 Aug 2012 7:08 a.m. PST |
As long as they include mine, I'm happy with that :-D |
Doms Decals | 14 Aug 2012 7:12 a.m. PST |
It gave me no alternative stories but rather only his which is not cool. Huh? – It wasn't even two dozen posts, so frankly if that took up your entire homepage, maybe you need to rethink your settings
. It should have been one post with all his pictures not thirty different posts. Maybe, but (a) that post would be a horrendous load for those with slow connections, and (b) far less useful in future, as searching for a particular model wouldn't find it, since TMP's search only works on subjects
. Why shuld guys be subjected to reviews thay don't care about?
Like *any* review?! It might be reasonable to suppose anyone with modern product reviews on their homepage might be interested in reviews of modern products, n'est ce pas
? He should have also realized that he would take up the whole front page and push everyone out. It is common sense.
Umm, the whole lot takes up about 10% of the "Message Boards" bit on my homepage – he's not exactly displaced everything else. I'd agree posting the whole lot in one big barrage wasn't the best-considered move ever, but they're genuinely informative posts, and frankly some people are being immense es about the whole thing
. Dom. |
Doms Decals | 14 Aug 2012 7:25 a.m. PST |
(As a belated afterthought for the OP – at least Louie N knows to post things to the right board – this thread doesn't appear to be a Modern Product Review at all
.) |
79thPA | 14 Aug 2012 7:29 a.m. PST |
Maybe we can get him interested in OG 25s or Battle Honors figs
someone ought to take pictures of their stuff and put it on-line. |
Legion 4 | 14 Aug 2012 7:38 a.m. PST |
It is fine, IMO, I like detail pics
As A/B said
it is "The Miniatures Page"
I don't see the problem. I think complaining and whining over too many pics of Tanks models on TMP
is like complaining about all the zombies on The Walking Dead, or too many aliens on Star Trek
Lighten up boys
it's a hobby
it's supposed to be "Fun"
|
Ambush Alley Games | 14 Aug 2012 7:46 a.m. PST |
Didn't bother me a bit. If it shoved stuff off the main page, it's easy enough to temporarily adjust toggles to fix that. |
Sloppypainter | 14 Aug 2012 8:03 a.m. PST |
Nope
enjoyed the reviews. |
altfritz | 14 Aug 2012 8:36 a.m. PST |
How many useful posts did you make in that time Combatpainter? |
Rubber Suit Theatre | 14 Aug 2012 9:11 a.m. PST |
The man made exactly *one* minor faux pas (in that it obviously annoyed someone). He apologized and promised not to do it again when it was brought to his attention. Give it a rest. |
John the OFM | 14 Aug 2012 9:22 a.m. PST |
I am an AWI fan. Huge AWI fan. but, if some fan were to feature every single pack of Perry figures in its own thread, or if they were to feature every single Raggfed Continental in Eureka's line, and them throw in a thread for every single new DAF Fife and Drum figure, I think that the Modern Figure people would wax Roth a bit. I would be annoyued too! The man made exactly *one* minor faux pas (in that it obviously annoyed someone). He apologized and promised not to do it again when it was brought to his attention. Give it a rest. Oh, I agree. 100%. The fire is out! And perhaps, just perhaps, I was a wee bit ,,, strident. |
hohoho | 14 Aug 2012 9:50 a.m. PST |
Hang on, someone finally used TMP for it's proper function and you want to whinge about it? I'd take 100 of Louis' posts PER day over 1 of the stupid, dribbling mind fart that usually gets posted by "the cool kids" (I use kids with a certain amount of trepidation since I know the majority are way older than me). So, that's a resounding NO to your question, just in case you weren't clear. |
Dale Hurtt | 14 Aug 2012 10:07 a.m. PST |
I thought it would have been more appropriate to post it all to a blog, but otherwise was not bothered. At first I thought some automated program went wild until I read a couple. The you could see it was someone's labor of love. Dale |
Baggy Sausage | 14 Aug 2012 11:11 a.m. PST |
Come clean Louie M, GeoffQRF put you up to it and then used you as a human shield didn't he? |
WarrenB | 14 Aug 2012 11:29 a.m. PST |
Like I just said on one of his topics: Weeelll
I admit I was a bit miffed when I saw the long string of posts, but now I figure Louie got 'em all out of the way in one go. Unlike some other TMPers
And like AB says his various posts are on topic too, and less of a rambling, random, stream-of-consciousness tour through the daily catch of the interweb trawl nets. Or: what Stamford said. |
Chef Lackey Rich | 14 Aug 2012 11:41 a.m. PST |
Why would I have an issue with someone posting about minis on TMP? If anything, the sheer volume of threads made them noticeable, where I might have overlooked them at first glance otherwise. Useful, helpful, and a plus to the community, I say. |
