While I painted these last month I only got around to put some photos of them on my blog now: link This is the French Napoleonic 12pdr. battery from Offensive Miniatures (28mm) based for Republic to Empire. Enjoy, Burkhard P.S.: Just a short pre-view (much more on the blog):

Dear Burkhard Lovely painting. A pity the gun models were not better. The Gribeuaval 12-pdr and AnXI 12-pdr both had Dolphins so it is strange that these do not. You will find more information below. The only nation that used bronze cannon without dolphins was Britain and these were the light 6-pdrs. I#Cast Iron Cannon did not have dolphins due to the brittle nature of the metal. Thank you both! @Stephen: there are Dolphins, they are just cast quiet flat. If you follow the link to my blog and click on the photos to see larger versions youmshould be able to make them out. But I would have prefered ones that were a little more pronounced, too. What do you make of the carriage colour? Have I found a good one? Thanks, Burkhard |

Beautifully painted, you have a good eye, sir. May I ask your technique with the crossbelts? The white highlight with a deeper base is interesting, different (as opposed to the typical black-line style most folks use to outline them), and looks quite nice. Well done! Cheers, Bob |

I love the wheels! Just beautiful the way you've captured that worn/muddy look through skillful painting |

Thank you guys! @Bob: I do not like blacklining at all. It creates a stronger contrast from further away, but close up (which feels just as important to me) it just looks unrealistic! But the way I do it is just plain simple. I block the area in in white and then I just drawn down the centre in a light grey. The one I use is a homemixed one, but Vallejo Sky Grey (989) is almost exactly the same shade, so that should do! |

Nicely done sir, these miniatures have a lot of character. Raglan |

Really enjoy your painting style. I'm currently reading The Battle: A New History of Waterloo seeing your mud technique is very timely. |

Lovely stuff. Can you please tell us what colours you use for the earth/dirt on your bases? |

Thank you guys! @Bandolier: No
I can do better! For the bases: link And for the mud on the minis: link Any questions just use the contact form at the top of the sidebar on the blog or PM me here! Cheers, Burkhard |
