As I understand it, at the time fo the American Civil War, and for many years after, photos were taken and sent to the newspaper or publisher, where they were converted to woodcuts for printing. A good place to see this sort of illustration is in Battles and Leaders of the Civil War. My question is, is there any software now that could do this? I think it would be great to be able to convert my photos of my late 19th Century armies into a period appropriate style of illustration. Grelber |
