I have two finished and six more awaiting portholes and paint. I think I am going to knock off on this for a while link

Those look quite nice.

Now, you just need some small speedboats for the rum runners to use.

That is a temptation; does anybody do 28mm Kennedys?

Rrobbyrobot03 Aug 2012 3:02 p.m. PST

How do you do the portholes? Very nice work.

Anton Ryzbak04 Aug 2012 9:53 a.m. PST

The portholes are from Revrisco website tin-soldier.com I made a tool to cut the holes to place them in, essentially a sharpened tube the size of the rear of the portholes' this is twisted into the side of the structure to make a hole.

If you follow the link and check just under the masthead picture there is a page labelled "Adventures in Foamcore and Blue Board" scroll down to the Armored Cruiser section there is a post labelled "portholes " and you can find a picture of the tool there and some info on using it.

Reviresco does a speedboat and there's this one online for free:

Sergeant Paper,

Ohh, that is cool! I will have to try my hand at one.

Sergeant Paper05 Aug 2012 7:10 p.m. PST

Pictures if you do, please?

I had meant to make some 6-bitters myself (started on the computer model, got stymied doing the unwrap because the parts are too big for an 8.5x11 page), and then a schooner (to park outside the 3-mile limit with the booze) and a fishing boat/rum runner (started the model, working on the unwrap) to give the 6-bitters more to chase.

And I wasn't sure what rules would work… :(
