After the Top Ten Films poll as suggested by Willtij was shot down by the editor as not being "wargaming related" I will steal the idea and suggest one that is. So what are your top ten "WARGAMING related" movies. Those films that either inspire you to game or started you in a new period or you like to watch while conducting any wargaming function from research thru painting to playing. Historical accuracy and good acting are optional. For me in no particular order: Gettysburg Glory Waterloo Master and Commander The Patriot The Longest Day A Bridge too far The Lord of the Rings (entire series) Star Wars (both series) Brave Heaart |

All good but I would like to suggest movies that have wargaming actually mentioned or better yet have miniatures/units represented. Anthony and Cleopatra (E. Taylor version of course) Ronin (at least I think this was the movie where the guy had the Samurai figure diorama he was painting) Any others along this vein? |

As nobody has mentioned it yet – Red File for Callan, where the hero (or was he more of an anti-hero) wargames Gettysburg with the 'villain'. Figures and terrain by, I think, the late Peter Gilder of Hinchliffe fame. One of my favourite bits of this film is when Callan's unofficial sidekick, Lonely, hears that the bodyguard (a big, muscle-bound character) of a sub-villain has been killed. He asks what happened. Callan explains that he hit him. Lonely, in astonishment, says 'You hit him Mr. Callan!" to which Callan responds 'Yes, I hit him and he died of it." Cool, very cool. |

richarDISNEY, good one, hehe. But if I was going to game Zardoz I would have a mercenary band from an alternate universe show up during filming and shoot all the actors and filming crew. Making sure to get the director would garnish extra victory points. |

Great lists, think I have seen every one so far. Didn't see The Warlord or The Vikings on any lists so far. |

There was an episode of The Avengers where Mrs Peel went off to save the world and Mr. Steed was left to protect some handsome young lady. They killed time by playing out Trafalgar and Waterloo, with Steed, as the British, getting trounced both times. At the end the lass chirpily declares "Daddy was a military historian!" The real thing's obviously funnier than my description
