This is probably a dumb question, but how are you supposed to get the cap off the spray can? It's a white plastic cap with four equally spaced slots, with "tabs" directly beneath. (When it costs $15 USD a can, I'm not taking any chances! ) |

Use a hobby knife to cut the perforations, or do what I do – smack it off with a table edge. |

Funny, I had to open one today and thought the same thing. Brute force and a screwdriver. And keep an eye on the nozzle. When I pried off the lid the nozzle went flying (missed the litter box by that much). |

Slots are for large flat head screwdrivers. Insert large flat head screwdriver and twist. Personally I tend to squeeze the caps and pull. I would worry about the screwdriver taking out the spray nozzle. And as you mention it, $15 USD a can; yikes! |

I hate those. They are apparently child proof, and adult proof too. Keep the receipt. If you break it while trying to get it open, return it to the retailer, and tell them it is defective. They shouldn't make tops that are so hard to remove. I have the same issue with the bottled salsa I use. The large size comes in a plastic jug, and you can't get the foil off neatly to save your life, even with a sharp steak knife. |

I cut around the edge with a cheap blade. |

Oh, why oh why don't they just use screw tops? But flat head screwdriver always worked for me. |

I was too lazy to go and get a screwdriver, so I used a modelling knife to cut the first few perforations on either side of one of the slots and then simply pulled the lid off. |

Brute force, but then the nozzle goes flying across the room
..Pain in the bum those lids.. Steve |

Did this last night – cut one of the tabs with an Exacto knife, the top came off very easily |

cut one of the tabs with an Exacto knife, the top came off very easily That worked – thanks! a white plastic cap with four equally spaced slots, with "tabs" directly beneath. Three, actually. |

I've just been usign some Army Painter sprays and from my experience, it would be better to leaave the lids on. The paint gives very poor coverage over metal, and left a gritty finish that isn't going to be much fun to paint over. Never again! Simon |

That does not sound right BRB – I have used these and found them to cover excellently, and have no hesitation in isuing them. Maybe you should return the can to the manufacturer for a replacement. |
