I have written a blog entry about a wargame I fought that recreates the attack by the Army of Everytown on the Hill People that is featured in the 1936 film THINGS TO COME.

The film was made by Alexander Korda and the script was written by HG Wells.

The battle report is here: link

One of my favorite movies.

Great AAR, thanks.

It is reported that, when the scene in the movie where masses of aircraft come to bomb England came up, the audiences actually laughed.

What a great film, I have a coloured versionand love it.
The game looks like good fun, thanks for sharing.

Tberry7403,

Thanks for your kind comment.

It is a great film … and it made a tremendous impact on me when I first saw it on TV when I was a child.

I can believe that the audience thought that the idea the Britain could be bombed by an enemy was silly … but it was the time when Winston Churchill was one of several people who were warning the British people that this could happen.

Phil1965,

I have never seen the colour version of the film although I had heard that it existed.

The battle was fun … and very easy to set up and play.

The first of many … I hope!

I picked it up on eBay for £3.00 GBP last year, sadly there are some chunks missing but Wikipeadia filled in the blanks for me.
It was odd to see that Mrs Pomphrey from 'All Creatures Great and Small' played the Boss's girlfriend, a very attractive lady in her day.

Thanks for sharing. I use the Memoir 44 tiles, any suggestions on replacing them? Also I will have to look at your figures for my own warlord games. You can see my AARs here. oldspaceways.com/forum Go to Second World War Two.

Thank you for posting this. I'd never known this film existed and been able to see it myself if you hadn't shared it.

Did the director's cut include an attack on the Village People?

Great stuff Bob. Really enjoyed the battle report and it set some wargaming cogs whirring.

Cheers
Mark
