I am starting a short series on WIP post on my blog, going through the paces of a command stand in 28mm (Perry Miniatures) depicting Lord Uxbridge and three ADC´s at Waterloo. For those interested… here is the first post (going through the reasoning of the colour choices for the horses, conversion work and so on):

Ups, sorry for the crosspost to the Naval board… I hit the crosspost button before I realised that I had hit the wrong selection!

I really like these , great idea .I look forward to seeing them finished

Nice blog entry. So reminds us of "the process."

And that's a huge entourage for a cavalry commander. I only give two extra figures to an infantry division commander!

I especially like the conversion part. I love me some conversion work.

Very cool, and great blog! I really need to do up a tiger skin Shabraque. Thanks for the inspiration!

Thank you guys!

@Widowson: Well Uxbridge actually had four ADC´s at Waterloo, but I do not think I could get 5 riders on a 8cm x 8cm base, so one is away delivering orders. wink I think this is actually a fair amount here, since he commanded the allied cavalry (except for the Prussians of course) at Waterloo.

For anyone interested… the second part is up as well (only finished the horses and started out lining the blue cloth):

Looking good – would an ADC carry a carbine? I didn't think officers ever did.

I mount my adc's and other staff on individual bases, so that they CAN be away delivering orders. Just something to consider.

Again, great figs.

Thanks!

@Enry: Well offically they did not (and neither would he or one of the others wear a haversack or canteen, but I did not want to convert the minis too much. In the end officers were allowed a lot freedom with their uniforms and equipment than the ranks and I am working along the lines that these men had seen some campaigning in the Peninsular and were looking for effectiveness rather than looks. And a carbine will always be handy if you are delivering orders and come upon some pesky French Hussars! evil grin

@Widowson: I do that as well (so far I only have some Prussians though link ), but these men are just there to add more character to Uxbirdge´s base.

Thanks again,

Burkhard
