I enjoy the occasional "outside the box/hare brained" gaming idea. I present to you my blog page displaying my gladiator project in 1/6 scale.

Now I wish I'd kept my Trojan War action figures…

Ambitious! I look forward to seeing the results!

I considered getting a few meters worth of hexagon pavers for the back yard but no current plans to build a scale coliseum

For the Ad Hoc game 'Six of the Best' (Best Participation Game at Salute 2001) we used converted Action Men.

Funnily enough we had it out the other day for Sarge's Skirmish Sensation …

My own Gladiator set up for shows uses converted 1/12 scale action figures (6" high). The game is, of course, 'Gladiolus', the best selling card driven game from the Society of Ancients.

I make up the arena of off-set squares from a stack of cork squares which I can tile out to suit. This makes the game eminently portable despite the size of the components. It would work with hexagons equally well.

That looks like a fun game. I've been meaning to get Gladiolus. I'll have to remember it when next I order SoA stuff.

That game looks like a blast!…and you don't need to make a hex map (the part of the project I've been putting off!)

Great ideas and I'm certainly a fan of the Avlon Hill game – I'm doing it in 28mm but now wish I had thought of your alternative. Would make a great demo game.

& I thought I was the ultimate fool for getting into NORMANDY FIREFIGHT with 1/18 action figures…

Superb- I thought the first few images were of re-enactors so good is the detail…

Yep – I had to peer at the pictures to figure out what I was looking at …
