Hello all, I've just started dabbling in 6mm and am putting together an American '70s/'80s force for Modern Spearhead. This my first attempt at getting the MERDC winter verdant camo scheme down, so I thought I'd post here to get some advice on what I can improve, and perhaps how. My blog details the steps and paints used, but I'm including a picture here for those who can't be bothered being asked to go and look to yet another blog post by some joker
Here's the link for any who might be those interested: link And here's a sample photo:
Any comments, advice or criticism much appreciated, no matter how harsh the home truths might be! Thanks very much, Aaron |

Close ups on micro armor are like throwing a super modle in a swimming pool-they both look better from a distance. :) |

LOL – that's certainly true of my microarmour efforts Grossman, but some blokes can paint 6mm so well it looks like 15mm! |

Thinned down black wash will do wonders for your microarmor. Even better is a very diluted wash with Future floor polish as well. You will need to matte spray after a Future blend wash though. |

Tempory, I like you stuff, I think if you add some fine black paint to this pattern, it will be more like MERDC, similar style/size as your beige/white. |

A touch of wash and possibly a very light highlighting drybrush can work wonders on micro tanks. Bases with a few minor details added can also work well, but are very much a matter of personal taste. |

TLA, Very nice effort for a first attempt! I think that MERDC patterns were supposed to be the same for all vehicles of the same type (inept/drunk application not withstanding). A very good pattern guide can be found here link An excellent colour guide for MERDC can be found here link As others have already said, a black/brown wash (ideally a pin wash) applied over a gloss coat will add depth to the details. Follow that with a light dry brush and a matt coat and they will look the business. I'm also partial to Tamiya weathering pigments for giving them that worn look. cheers |
