Here's some stuff I found trolling around the interwebs. They look to be using the NATO 3-color scheme. "
Testors Model Master Sand, FS 33531, is a near-perfect match for CARC Middlestone, the curent US military sand color." – Armorama "Just from personal experience, if the AAVs came from the MEU, then they'll be in the green scheme. If they rolled off the MPS ships from Diego Garcia, then they'll be the sand scheme." – Finescale Modeler re:Mog color (not a 5-star lock) In case you'd like to order some touch-up kits: link Some swatches: link Then there's this (it's Army but I'm sure it's not too far off). See page 40. link This should be the 1988 update: link More on the CARC colors: link |

If you *are* going to go with Testers Enamels, they DO have a US Army/Marines Gulf War Armor Sand link And – Hope you have your own airbrush & like working with thinner, because in their infinite wisdom, Testors never produced it in spray paint form, and, BONUS, never did an acrylic version. FS33531 is a federal color code number, not a Testors code for a color, and coming from a DS vet, that color sand is NOT the right tone for USMC vehicles that were out there, that color is actually listed on the Testors website as a WW2 US/British color. If you check the color Middlestone vs Sand, they are VERY different, while the US Army/Marine Gulf War Armor Sand is a much closer match to Middlestone. |
