Went and saw this earlier this week with a friend. It has just recently hit Swedish cinema's.
I was hoping for a good B movie, but sadly left the cinema thinking it was a rather mediocre movie with some good bits thrown into it.

What happened to Abe Lincoln Vampire Hunter? Tim Burton. Took a very entertaining book and …. 'nuff said.

I actually thought it was better than it had any right to be – except for the ridiculou train on the burning/collapsing trestle.

The stampeding horses scene did it in for me. IMO they took a mediocre book and made a bad movie out of it. Most of the 'good' parts of the book got left out for two long bad, horrible action sequences the movie didn't need.

Ugh, yeah, I had blocked the "horse surfing" from my memory.

Lol. C'mon, it's Abe Lincoln Vampire Hunter – not Abe Lincoln 16th President of the U.S….I assumed that ANYTHING was fair game after seeing the movie title and wasn't disappointed :-)

I enjoyed the movie. The horse tossing was a bit beyond my suspension of disbelief (human tossing, on the other hand…), and I would have liked to see more historical characters. Imagine, Samuel L. Jackson as Frederick Douglas…

I went to the discount theater and saw it tonight. Well, I saw a lot of it anyway. I walked out after an hour. I thought it was a real piece of crap and not worth anymore of my time.

Loved it. The burning trestle was awesome. It was like the trestles built by the Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry Regiments in Northern Virginia. They must have read Lincoln's Diary where he said he crossed a bridge designed by Herman Haupt, that was made out of nothing but twigs and cornstalks. Haupt used saplings to absorb the shock of the heavy rolling stock since he had no seasoned lumber. Great research! Seeing the building of the Capital, The Washington Monument, the steamboats on the Mississippi, were all great.
#1 Scene, the Black Hats defeating the Vampires at Gettysburg. What's more plausible than that?
