Does anyone has tried to build walkers on transparent bases? Advantages are obvious – You can use them anywhere. The problem is especially important with four legged walker vehicles, like CMG Okami or Fenrir, demanding huge (extremely visible) bases. I want to remove hexagonal resin bases under all feet of my CMG Okamis and base their feet directly on transparent plates.
I wonder if someone has done this before and would like to share with us? |

I don't like transparent bases. They are always too shiny and distracting. |

Even if spray with mat/anti shine? |

Given that the usual materials for tabletop terrain includes sand, how long will a transparent base stay transparent? |

4-legged mechs should be stable enough to stand unbased, why put ANYTHING underneath them? |

Given that the usual materials for tabletop terrain includes sand, how long will a transparent base stay transparent? Bingo. One of the local gamers used transparent bases, and after just two or three games they looked horrible, like the minis were standing on scratched-up ice floes. He wound up flocking and painting the bases. |

Some rulesets require a base. |

I actually based a Critical Mass walker on a scrap of acrylic. It was a handy thing lying around while assembling the walker
never meant it to be permanent, but I've never replaced it.
Hit your local hardware stores – the ones that cut glass for repairing windows. They will sell a type of acrylic that is meant for photo frames – it's very matte even under direct light. It usually sells in 8.5"x11" sheets for about three bucks, and you can cut it with a utility knife. As far as the scratches
depends on your surface. If you're playing on a fabric or Zuzzy rubber mat, or even on grass paper or vinyl tiles, you'll never have a problem. -Chris K. |

Clear bases are great
. But all the figures on them look like they are floating. |

Which is why I'm going to use clear bases for all my Infinity figures that have 'Zero-G' as a terrain type. (4 'Hellcat' drop troops, 2 'Tomcat' deep-space rescue troops and the character Tomcat, plus a couple drones) |

Hadn't thought about it myself. I would probably just run my models without bases for Gruntz. Clkeagle, great minds think alike. I'm going to be building out a Tigrid force with Khurasan grunts and CMG vehicles just like in your picture. |

I try to not base them at all, but will go nervous probably.. I also will search for armored plex, or better try to buy some glass from defunct smartphones (usually it is extremely durable and non scratchable). Clkeagle, great minds think alike. I'm going to be building out a Tigrid force with Khurasan grunts and CMG vehicles just like in your picture. There are thousands of us. :) |
