Hi All, A quick preview of some Space Portal Guards. 15mm "scale" and approx 20mm to the top of their heads. 4 in total just being finished off.
Cheers Adam |

These are cool, GZG does something similar but I think yours look a little nicer. Are you planning on doing the different animal heads? ala the film/series? Also, fancy doing a storm trooper seeming as copyright does't seem to be an issue
|
Eclipsing Binaries | 16 Jul 2012 5:50 a.m. PST |
Yes, lots of different heads would be cool. Where will these be on sale from? Any takers yet? |
Umpapa | 16 Jul 2012 6:05 a.m. PST |
Excellent. Wish they head changeable heads! I had asked Jon of GZG for some bareheaded year ago, still wainting
|
Chatticus Finch | 16 Jul 2012 6:42 a.m. PST |
Dude these are great! You definitely need to do some 'dog-head' and 'hawk-head' gate guards! ;) |
Eli Arndt | 16 Jul 2012 6:49 a.m. PST |
I suppose whoever buys these could go where the originals didn't? Go with some other animal heads as well. Lion, Croc, Ibis? Not only would this expand the line beyond the original IP, it will set itself apart from it. EDIT: Changed this so it doesn't seem like I projecting at the sculptor. These were meant as general ideas. Sorry Adam -Eli |

Like the bodies but I think the heads look a bit rushed, they have an almost Beany and Cecil-esque look to them. Think I prefer the GZG, although Jon quite sensibly does not have them illustrated on his webstore. |
Rassilon | 16 Jul 2012 7:07 a.m. PST |
Definitely would be nice to see bareheaded versions too, or head swaps. |
streetline | 16 Jul 2012 7:16 a.m. PST |
the heads look a bit rushed He is just finishing them off
;-) More is good. More heads is better. |
(I make fun of others) | 16 Jul 2012 7:17 a.m. PST |
You may be right but I suspect what he meant was that he's finishing additional poses. |
whiffwaff | 16 Jul 2012 7:23 a.m. PST |
Additional poses are being worked on, this one is 95% done with a few bits needing tweaking |
Jeff W | 16 Jul 2012 7:31 a.m. PST |
These please me. How about some Turians from Mass Effect, whiffwaff? |
ThorLongus | 16 Jul 2012 8:03 a.m. PST |
nice point , Jeff
.but what I would like to see is 5 poses of Geth from mass effect..those would sell like hotcakes |
Jeff W | 16 Jul 2012 8:16 a.m. PST |
Y'know, in all fairness, it wouldn't even be just Turians or Geth. If anyone came out with licensed or "not-Mass Effect" clones, I'd push the limits of spouse-rage purchasing it. |
Gokiburi | 16 Jul 2012 9:33 a.m. PST |
This one would like to politely request the inclusion of Hanar. (this one is embarassed to say that a miniature of Blasto would be especially appreciated) This one also thinks that Elcor and Volus would be useful. (although this one realizes that rebel's sons of thunder could work for the Volus) Now that I'm done with that annoying speach pattern, I'd like to lend my vote in support of alternate animal helmets for the jaffa. |
Wolfprophet | 16 Jul 2012 10:36 a.m. PST |
Finally! Been dying for some Jaffa. I like the GZG ones, but I really need the bareheaded masses and heavy weapons team in this scale. |
Cacique Caribe | 16 Jul 2012 12:10 p.m. PST |
Ooooo, those look awesome!!! Need some with Jackal heads though. Dan |
Glenn M | 16 Jul 2012 12:39 p.m. PST |
I'd like to see as many head variants as possible. I think the best appearance wise would be a cat head variant, the others Croc, and Ibis may be harder to pull off well Variants allow us to have a mix in our forces and give them different stats for different roles. Having a force of one unit type is bland. |
SirFjodin | 16 Jul 2012 3:42 p.m. PST |
Jaffa, kre! Please tell me that you are going to cast and sell them |

These Jaffa/Portal Guards look great and i really like the idea of casting them with separate heads so that the buyer can then choose which deity they want them to belong to. |

Some more figures. Helmeted:

Any idea who's picking those up? |
Eli Arndt | 17 Jul 2012 8:24 a.m. PST |
Wow! That was quick, Adam. While the magic lamp seems to be working, maybe a Lion (Mithra) or Bull Head (Minos)? -Eli |

I want them. Desperately. |
SCAdian | 17 Jul 2012 3:48 p.m. PST |
This is in fantasy discusion why? |
SirFjodin | 17 Jul 2012 7:12 p.m. PST |
Because Stargate is a mix of Sci-Fi and Fantasy. |
Eli Arndt | 17 Jul 2012 8:50 p.m. PST |
This is in fantasy discusion why? Because figures like this have serious crossover potential. There is nothing openly scifi on those sculpts at all. They could easily be fantasy Egyptians with magical totem helmets and staffs of power. Any minis sculptor/producer worth his lead and putty will capitalize on crossover potential. -Eli |

So who's got em and when are they selling em? |
Eclipsing Binaries | 18 Jul 2012 3:02 a.m. PST |
I want some of these as well. I've been rewatching Stagate SG1 and just got to Season 4. So great timing for these minis. Colin |

AVAMANGO | 18 Jul 2012 6:42 a.m. PST |
LOL i went the other route I've just finished watching all five seasons of Stargate Atlantis,i cant remember the online store that sells them but i need to buy myself a 15mm scale stargate and i have been toying around with making a few puddle jumpers out of sweetex distributors and some scrap plastic. Now if someone was to sculpt a few Wraith and Wraith guard miatures that would be fantastic
|
SirFjodin | 25 Jul 2012 5:39 a.m. PST |
15mm Wraith will be awesome. I am wandering if I cut rifles in half of these Peter Pig Polish to make some Genii. Maybe some greenstuff to modify their weapons.
|
republic of tolworth | 25 Jul 2012 5:43 a.m. PST |
Good idea, should work a treat for Genii. And as generic mid/low tech troopers. |
Ghostrunner | 25 Jul 2012 6:45 a.m. PST |
Small suggestion
the ears on the Anubis (jackal) guys could be a big taller. Not sure if that's doable at this scale, but to me the very tall pointed ears make it classically Egyptian. |
AVAMANGO | 26 Jul 2012 3:22 a.m. PST |

Rassilon | 27 Jul 2012 10:10 p.m. PST |
Good eye on the possible Genii figs
ditto on Wraith! :) But I do love what you've done with your Space Portal Guards, can't wait to see them available. |
SirFjodin | 28 Jul 2012 7:42 p.m. PST |
I am wandering about Ori in 15mm
I think they can be created from some late medieval spearmen or halberd warriors by just sculpting new spearhead. Maybe these 4 packs from Peter Pig can make cool looking Ori army? 4 packs mean 12 poses and 32 miniatures, pr 8 4 man-squads, 5 6-man squads, 4 8-man squads and or 3 10-man squads.
|
SirFjodin | 28 Jul 2012 7:59 p.m. PST |
Ori Prior proxy from 15mm.co.uk fantasy range. I am so inspired! So we can make Genii and Ori in 15mm, and when whiffwaff's Jaffa will be released, we can make armies of different System Lords!!!!

Wolfprophet | 28 Jul 2012 9:18 p.m. PST |
Oh man. You guys are awesome. Why the hell did I not think to use some medieval pikemen for Ori?! My gaming group will LOVE that we finally have more ideas and minis for doing Stargate games. |
Glenn M | 29 Jul 2012 4:11 p.m. PST |
Whiff Waff, are you considering the figures you posted finished? I feel like they could use a bit of finishing on teh back of the helmets, they all look a little off (I suppose it could be the light or the way the greenstuff is catching it) Also, will these scale with GZG's offerings? |
