Hello, comrades. The HMGS Historicon 2012 convention is next week, and, as I have for the last three conventions, I have created a GUIDEBOOK APP for this convention that will be viewable on IoS devices (Ipads, Ipod, and Iphone) and Android phones and tablets, as well as internet browser capable phones of other kinds. First of, what is GUIDEBOOK? This is an application, or "App" in hipster parlance, that resides on a multitude of mobile devices (Ipad, Ipod, Iphone, Android smartphones, Android Tablets, and there's even a version for browser enabled phones that can access the web). GUIDEBOOK maintains a master schedule of every thing going on at a convention, Maps where everything is, general information about the convention, plus maintaining a custom version of your own schedule that keeps a list of all the things you want to do when you go to a convention.. and reminds you when you when it's time to do it. Think of it as your, extremely personalized version of the paper program guide that can store on a handy device, beeps you when it's time to go to the next item on your schedule and keeps a to-do list for you. As usual, I've posted a "How to get it, how to use it" blogpost for this GUIDEBOOK APP. Here you are: link Enjoy it, and I hope to see you at HISTORICON 2012. V/R Walt |

Thanks Walt I've always found this app to be extremely useful while at the con and you seem to have really improved the features I really appreciate the effort you put into this app Miles |

Sweet! All of the Law Library staff where I work have been given I-Pads this summer to develop ideas and uses for law students. Basically we have been given cart blanc to use the I-pads however we see fit. Well mine is coming with me to H-Con and I will be downloading the app. Cool! |

It seems my games are in Exhibit Hall A, Table 91. (If I read things correctly. The problem is there is no Table 91 in Exhibit Hall A. Hummm |

Moe, the schedule is as good as what the events guy gives me. If you need a resolution for that go to Bill Rutherford first and then email me where to change it. I can fix it up to and during the convention itself, of course. |

Could someone from the Hobby/Painting University contact me with the definitive schedule of what classes are being given, who's teaching them and where they will be held? The spreadsheet I was given by Mitch is incoherent and unusable. |

Great app tnx. I just loaded it to my ipad3
looks great. whomever scanned the Exhibit B list of vendors left out the table numbers!?!?! :-( But as most folks have stated, and I fully agree, UdaMan! |

HH, on my Kindle Fire, I see the table numbers on the Vendor Hall map, just as they are on the map posted on the Hcon website under Vendor Listing. A software glitch perhaps? Maybe the map is getting cropped on your version, since the table numbers are on the far right edge. |

I've sent Bill Rutherford an email about the missing table 91. Given the way the tables are numbered, if there is a table 91 missing from the map, it will be in very close proximity to table 90. Moe, you should contact Bill Rutherford. He will make any changes or accommodations necessary. Oh, and if any of you like things old school, we've posted the Historicon program book in PDF format on the website – just because we can. |

I've already used it to find the tables assigned to the games I'm hosting. Great app and thank you so much Walt for your hard work on this. |

Gosh Walt, HMGS coming into 21st Century? What is the world coming too.
One of these days I just might have to get a smart phone so I can use this. |

Thanks to some timely assistance from Mitch Osborne, the Hobby University track has been added. To incorporate the update, simply open GUIDEBOOK (connected to the Internet or 3G) and say YES to the update. CIAO, Walt |

Mitch, Thanks for posting the PDF on the site. I was able to find table 91 on the PDF. Apparently my counting is wrong as I expected 91 near 89 and 90.. Go figure, it's between 12, 13, 14 and 15. :) I'm just glad I got a table
woohoo.. |

Moe, I missed it too. Bad on me. Glad you found it on the pdf map. |

I had to reduce the graphic to get it to be viewable. That may account for the disappearing numbers. -- Walt |
