Picked up some WGF Germans and G.I.s from my FLGS yesterday, but before I start jumping into it
I realized I can't necessarily paint them them 100% accurate because I use citadel paints. I use them because they're what's always worked best for me after trying several brands. But, are there some approximations of what's close? Or perhaps can someone provide some decent color photos of uniforms and kit? I can easily pick out "Close Enough" from eyesight alone since I used to be a screen printer. (Job worked wonders for my painting skills.) Thanks in advance. |

The new GW paints or their previous range? I'm certain that there are some painting guides out there which use their previous range of paints. |

There was an "Official" FoW paint guide at one time. It listed the GW equivalents
let me look around

I found this German painting guide: link It doesn't give the GW paint matches, so you'll have to compare with this chart: link Hope it helps, Dave |

"North Afrika" had a painting guide with both Vallejo and GW paint recommendations. I painted up a few Americans using the recommended GW colors and absolutely hated the look. It was VERY garish. The only GW paints I use now are Black (for obvious colors) and Bestial Brown for wooden tool handles and rifle butts. |

Thanks, I actually found a colour guide that
(Surprise surprise
I wrote up last year!) on here for the U.S. Think I have a great substitute for Desert Yellow though since its replacement is now a base, so it goes on nice and easy instead of being watery. TMP link John, I did the same and I ended up with 5 stands of Afrika Korp that I was unhappy with, stripped and may be finding their way to the market place soon. The new GW paints or their previous range? I'm certain that there are some painting guides out there which use their previous range of paints. Either or. All they did was change the names and formulas, otherwise, they kept all the same colours. A few are lighter now, others darker, but they're reasonably close. the new paints are designed with "Shading up" from dark to light in mind with a wash/shade or water as a step somewhere in there
but really, they still work well enough like the old range. |

Water? meant "whatever" but is much too late to edit message. |
